"Hey. What's for lunch?" Enid asked her friends, sitting down at the lunch table.
"Turkey sandwich." Lydia said, looking disappointed.
"Left over McDonald's. It's cold." Sophia said, knocking one of the nuggets on her plate.
"Lucky. I wish I had cold McDonald's." Carl said, picking up his sandwich.
"Carl when do you not wish you had McDonald's?" Alicia said, crossing her arms.
"You want to trade?" Sophia asked.
"For real?" Carl said, hoping he could have the chicken nuggets.
"Yeah your sandwich looks good as hell." Sophia said, not wanting her chicken all that much.
"Here take it." Carl said, pushing it towards her and taking the chicken.

Carl, Enid, Sophia, Alicia, and Lydia were all cheerleaders.

"Yo. Where's your food?" Henry said, sitting down and noticing Ron's lack of food.
"I'm not hungry." Ron lied. Pete had forbade him from having lunch today.
"Really? I feel like you're always hungry." Mikey said, taking bite of his food.
"Well I'm not today, ok?" Ron said in a tone that was almost hostile.
"Jeez alright. Damn." Mikey said smiling.
"Sooo... what's going on tonight?" Henry asked, hoping they were going to hang out and smoke weed.
"Yeah Ron. What's going on?" Mikey said, hoping the same as Henry.
The boys always hang out in Ron's house because Pete was usually working.
"My dad will be home." Ron said, disappointing his friends.
"Fuck no!" Mikey exclaimed, acting like he was crying.
"You're ridiculous." Ron joked.

...

Carl and his friends walked down the hall towards their class.
That when Carl spotted Ron. He was leaning on his locker, looking bored.
Surely he'd say something bad to Carl to cure his boredom if he saw him.
Carl stopped, starting to turn around and find another way to class.
"Where are you going?" Lydia asked, confused with Carls behavior.
"Ron is over there. I don't want to see him." Carl explained.
"What's he gonna do? There's five of us and one of him. I think we can take him if we have to." Alicia said, always having disliked Ron.
"Fuck him! You can't let him push you around Carl. Come on." Enid said, leading her friends past the blonde boy.

Ron looked down the hall, noticing Carl was coming with his friends.
He's so fucking cute. No! I mean her. Sophia. Ron thought to himself.

The girls walked by with confidence as Carl tried to hide behind them.
"Hey Ron." Sophia said in a mocking tone.
Ron just rolled his eyes and pulled his phone out.
Carl looked back at Ron, watching him type something in his phone.
Is he talking about me? Carl worried to himself.

"See? He's a coward. He won't mess with you if we're all together." Enid said once they were away from Ron.
"Yeah. You're right." Carl said, having regained some of his confidence.
"I always am." Enid said with a proud smile.
"So.. are you guys coming to my sleep over tonight?" Sophia asked her friends.
"Yeah. I was." Alicia said, looking at her phone.
"Me too." Lydia replied.
"For sure." Enid said.
"I'll ask my mom. But yeah probably." Carl said.
Carl was openly gay and always allowed to spend the night with his friends.
"Ok I'll see you guys there!" Sophia said excitedly, skipping to her class.

Carl was looking in the mirror fixing his hair.
He had the whole bathroom to himself, luckily.

"Hey pussy." Ron said, leaning on the wall and looking at Carl.
When had Ron gotten here? And now Carl was all alone with him. His friends couldn't come in here.
Carl didn't reply, and just attempted to leave the bathroom.

"Hey hey hey.. where are you going? Huh?" Ron said, getting in between Carl and the door and pushing him back a bit.
"Just leave me alone. Please." Carl pleaded, not wanting to deal with Ron right now.
"Oh come on Carl. You don't want me to leave. You probably want to fuck me." Ron made fun of Carls sexuality.
"What?! No I don't!" Carl exclaimed, possibly lying, even if he wouldn't admit it.
"Oh I'm sure you don't. Fucking liar." Ron said, getting too close to Carl.

"I'm not lying." Carl lied.

"Sure." Ron said, seeing through carls lies.
"Carl.. look, I know we're not friends, but I need you to listen." Ron said with a sincere tone.
"Yeah? What is it?" Carl said, thinking Ron might need help.
"It's.. it's your fucking hair. It's terrible. You should really get it fixed or something. Although I'm not sure how you'd even fix that disaster." Ron said. In all reality, he thought Carls hair was adorable. That's why he chose that to make fun of.
"I.." Carl said, not knowing what to say.
He thought Ron was going to be sincere with him, that maybe they could be friends.
Carl felt tears forming in his blue eyes.
"Aw are you going to cry pussy?" Ron said cruelly.
Carl burst into tears, running to one of the stalls and locking it.
Why can't Ron just be his friend?

Ron left the bathroom soon after Carl had locked himself in the stall.
He felt bad, honestly.
Carl was cute. Why does he have to act like this to the boy he likes?
Ron didn't know why he did the things he does.

...

Carl sat in the corner hanging swing in Sophia's room. The girls were talking about the boys they liked while Carl was silent.
He couldn't tell them he liked Ron. They'd tell him to forget about him, and Carl didn't want to do that.

"Carl? Are you ok? You've been awfully quiet." Sophia said, noticing her friends upset mood.
"I'm ok." Carl said, gently swinging back and forth.
"So.. is there anyone you like?" Enid asked Carl with a mischievous smile.
"Um.. no." Carl said unconvincingly.
"I don't believe that for a second." Alicia said, shaking her head.
"Why not? Who would I like?" Carl said defensively.
"I don't know! That's why we're asking." Enid exclaimed.
"Nobody. That's who I like." Carl lied.
"Whatever you say." Alicia said, still not convinced.

"You seem down Carl." Lydia said, thinking he seemed distracted.
"I don't know.. it's just Ron I guess." Carl said, looking down.
"What about him? Did he do something?" Sophia said, worried.
"He just made fun of my hair earlier." Carl admitted.
"Let's go kill him i swear he sucks." Enid said, ready to fight for her friend.
"I love your hair Carl." Lydia said, trying to make him feel better.
"Thanks. And yeah he sucks." Carl said, feeling better.

"Anyways, Ron sucks what's new? Are we going to Mikey's party at the end of the month?" Alicia asked.
"Mikey? You mean Ron's best friend Mikey?" Sophia said.

"I'm mean yeah they're friends but Mikey is cool. He invited all of to the party." Alicia said.

"We should. Maybe we can like.. ruin it for Ron some how or something." Enid said, always looking for a way to mess with Ron.

"No! We should go and just have fun. We shouldn't wast our time on him." Lydia said.

"I agree. Let's have fun even if he's there. He'll probably be drunk out of his mind anyway." Carl said.
He had heard how Ron is at parties before.
"Ok ok. Let's go then. We'll have to find something to wear though." Sophia said, still a bit apprehensive to go.

...

"How was work?" Ron asked his father, trying to make conversation at the dinner table.
"Fine. And school?" Pete said.
"Good. Um.. I have a game tomorrow. Can you come?" Ron said.
He always wanted his dad to come to his games, but he rarely did.
"I don't know. I have work." Pete replied, always busy as a surgeon.
"Yeah. I guess so." Ron said, disappointed but not surprised.
