The silence aboard the Celestial Vanguard is deafening as the crew processes the loss of Teri for the second time. The citadel of the Abyss, once a looming presence in the dark void, has crumbled into oblivion. Yet, the faint message Kei received still lingers in her mind—Teri's voice, speaking through the static, suggesting that he might still be alive, out there, somewhere.
Kei stands at the observation deck, staring into the void, her reflection cold and distant in the glass. Drake enters, his footsteps soft but purposeful.
Drake (gruffly):
"You gonna stand there forever, Kei?"
Kei doesn't turn, her voice barely a whisper.
Kei (softly):
"He's alive, Drake. I can feel it."
Drake sighs, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Drake (sincerely):
"I know what you heard, but we have to be realistic. We barely made it out, and that place... it was pure death."
Kei clenches her fists, refusing to accept the finality of Drake's words.
Kei (determined):
"You didn't hear him, Drake. It wasn't just a message from the past or a glitch. It was real. He's somewhere out there."
Drake's face softens, and he steps beside her.
Drake (softly):
"If anyone can survive the Abyss, it's Teri. But we can't lose ourselves in chasing ghosts. Not again."
Kei's gaze never leaves the stars, her mind fixed on the signal. She knows what she heard. She knows what she felt.
