Kei approaches the energy field cautiously, her hand outstretched.
Kei (firmly):
"We're getting you out of here, Teri. I'm not leaving without you."
As her hands were feeling pain but Teri shakes his head, his expression filled with pain.
Teri (strained):
"You don't understand. I'm the only thing keeping the Abyss from spreading. If I leave, it'll escape... and consume everything."
Kei hesitates, her heart torn. She's found him, but the price of his freedom might be too high.
Kei (pleading):
"There has to be another way. We can fight it together!"
Teri closes his eyes, and the energy field pulses around him.
Teri (softly):
"Maybe... there is."
The ground begins to shake, and the station's systems flicker wildly. The Abyss is waking, and it's trying to break free.
Teri (urgently):
"You have to trust me, Kei. I can hold it back, but only if I stay here... for now. I need more time."
Kei (desperately):
"I won't leave you!"
Teri (softly):
"You have to. I'll come back. I promise."
The station rumbles violently, and the energy field around Teri grows unstable. The crew is forced to retreat as the Abyss tries to overwhelm them.
Kei (shouting):
"Teri!"
But before she can reach him, the energy field explodes, and Teri's form is engulfed in shadows. The crew is thrown back, and the chamber collapses around them.
