The faint sound of pots and pans clanging in the kitchen echoed through the quiet house as Juhee sat at the table, scrolling through job listings on her laptop. With her final exams behind her, she felt a mix of relief and uncertainty. The weight of her recent experiences lingered like a cloud, casting shadows over her thoughts.

She was so absorbed in her search that she didn't notice Jaehyun enter the kitchen until he spoke. "Hey, can we talk for a minute?"

Juhee looked up, surprised to see her brother standing there, a look of concern etched on his face. She nodded, feeling a knot form in her stomach. She had been avoiding conversations about their family dynamics since the fight that had left them all shaken.

Jaehyun hesitated before continuing. "I wanted to say I'm sorry. I know I haven't been the best brother lately. After seeing the fight between Mom and Dad and how hard things have been for you... I realized I should have been there for you."

Juhee's heart ached at his words, but she remained silent, her eyes welling up with tears. The emotional turmoil she had been holding back began to surface as she felt the weight of his apology settle within her.

"Juhee?" Jaehyun prompted gently, his expression shifting to one of worry.

In that moment, she couldn't contain her feelings any longer. Tears streamed down her face as she stood up and stepped toward him, wrapping her arms around her brother. "I'm sorry too," she whispered through her sobs. "It's just been so hard."

Jaehyun held her close, offering silent comfort as he let her cry into his shoulder. They stood there for what felt like an eternity, the tension between them dissipating, replaced by an understanding that they both needed.

Once she had composed herself, they sat together at the table, sharing a simple meal. The atmosphere felt lighter as they exchanged stories and laughter, a sense of normalcy returning to their home, if only for a moment. Jaehyun made a point to ask her about her job search, encouraging her with every answer, reminding her that she wasn't alone in this journey.

Later that night, after the dishes were cleared and the kitchen was quiet once more, Juhee decided to take a walk. She needed to clear her mind, to escape the lingering worries of her day-to-day life. The cool night air welcomed her as she stepped outside, the stars twinkling overhead like distant hopes.

As she wandered, she found herself drawn to a nearby park, where she spotted a familiar figure sitting on a bench, engrossed in a book. It was Seunghan, the boy she had bumped into several times at the university.

"Hey, Seunghan," she called out, her voice breaking the serene silence of the night.

He looked up, his face lighting up with a smile. "Juhee! Fancy seeing you here." He set his book down, and she took a seat beside him.

They chatted comfortably, discussing everything from their favorite genres to their future aspirations. Juhee felt a sense of ease with him, a refreshing distraction from her recent emotional turmoil. Seunghan's presence was like a balm, soothing the rough edges of her mind.

Eventually, as the night deepened, Seunghan stood to leave. "Let me walk you home," he offered, and she nodded, appreciating the company.

As they walked side by side, the conversation flowed easily, and for the first time in a while, Juhee felt light-hearted. When they reached her house, Seunghan paused at the gate. "I had a great time tonight," he said, his eyes sparkling in the dim light.

"Me too. Thanks for walking me home," Juhee replied, a genuine smile on her face.

"Anytime," he said, giving her a friendly wave before heading down the street.

As she entered her house, Juhee felt a flicker of hope ignite within her. Perhaps this new chapter in her life wouldn't be so daunting after all. She was ready to face whatever came next, with her brother by her side and new connections forming in unexpected places.
