As the months passed, Seunghan and Juhee continued to grow closer, their friendship blossoming into something deeper. They shared countless dinners, laughter, and quiet moments, yet a lingering shadow hovered over their relationship. Seunghan couldn't shake the feeling that Juhee wasn't entirely over Wonbin, and it began to gnaw at him.

One evening, as they sat on the couch watching a movie, Seunghan caught a glimpse of Juhee's expression during a particularly emotional scene. She looked distant, her thoughts seemingly miles away. He turned to her, concern etched on his face. "Hey, is everything okay?"

Juhee snapped back to reality, offering him a small smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just lost in thought, I guess."

Seunghan studied her for a moment, the unease in his chest tightening. "You've been doing that a lot lately. Is it about Wonbin?"

Juhee hesitated, her gaze dropping to her hands. "It's just... sometimes I can't help but think about the past."

He took a deep breath, knowing this conversation was inevitable. "Juhee, I need to be honest with you. I feel like you're still holding on to something with him. I can see it in your eyes."

Her silence was deafening. She bit her lip, grappling with the emotions swirling inside her. "I didn't mean to give you that impression," she finally said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"I care about you, and I want you to be happy," Seunghan said gently. "But I also need to know that you're fully present with me. It hurts to feel like I'm competing with someone who's not even in your life anymore."

Juhee's heart sank. "It's not like that. I've tried to move on. I really have. But Wonbin was such a significant part of my life..."

Seunghan nodded, understanding but feeling a sense of betrayal. "I get it. But it's not fair to either of us if you're still holding onto those feelings. Maybe we should take a break."

Juhee's eyes widened. "A break? Why would we do that?"

"Because I don't want to be in a relationship where I feel like I'm second best," he replied, his tone firm yet pained. "You deserve to figure things out for yourself, and so do I."

Juhee felt tears welling up in her eyes. "I didn't want it to come to this. I thought we were building something special."

"We were," Seunghan said softly. "But if you're still holding onto your past with him, I don't think we can move forward. I need to prioritize my feelings too."

Silence enveloped them, the weight of their conversation heavy in the air. Juhee wanted to protest, to convince him that she could balance her feelings, but deep down, she knew he was right. The unresolved emotions about Wonbin were a barrier she hadn't fully acknowledged.

"I'm sorry, Seunghan," she said, her voice breaking. "I didn't mean to hurt you. I just didn't realize how much I was still affected by him."

"I know," he replied, his expression softening. "And I'm sorry too. I wish things were different. You're an amazing person, and I care about you more than you know."

Juhee nodded, tears slipping down her cheeks. "I wish things were different too."

As the evening wore on, they talked through their feelings, each word marking the end of what had been a beautiful, albeit complicated, chapter in their lives. When Seunghan reached out to wipe away her tears, Juhee felt the warmth of his affection, contrasting sharply with the cold reality of their situation.

"Juhee," he said gently, "you deserve to be with someone who has your whole heart. And right now, I don't think that's me."

She shook her head, unable to process the hurt that was settling in. "You've been so good to me, Seunghan. I don't want to lose you."

"I don't want to lose you either," he said, his voice trembling slightly. "But I can't pretend that everything is okay when I know you're still struggling with your past. We both need to find clarity."

Juhee's heart ached, the weight of his words settling heavily on her chest. "I never wanted it to end like this."

"Me neither," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "But sometimes the hardest thing to do is the right thing."

They both sat in silence for a moment, the reality of their breakup sinking in. Juhee leaned forward and buried her face in her hands, feeling the tears flow freely. Seunghan instinctively wrapped his arms around her, holding her tight as she cried.

"I'm here for you," he whispered, stroking her hair gently. "No matter what happens, I'll always care about you."

Juhee clung to him, the warmth of his embrace both comforting and heartbreaking. She knew that this was the right decision for both of them, but the thought of losing Seunghan, of what they had built together, was too painful to bear.

As the night wore on, they shared memories, laughter, and tears, cherishing the time they had spent together. Finally, as the evening came to a close, they stood together at the door, the atmosphere thick with unspoken words.

"Take care of yourself, okay?" Seunghan said, his voice steady but laced with emotion.

Juhee nodded, unable to find her voice. She wanted to say so much, to express the love and gratitude she felt for him, but the words remained lodged in her throat. Instead, she reached out and squeezed his hand one last time before letting go.

"Goodbye, Seunghan," she managed to whisper, her heart heavy as she stepped back, feeling the space between them widen.

"Goodbye, Juhee," he replied softly, watching her retreat down the hall.

As she walked away, tears streamed down her cheeks, each step feeling like a painful farewell to a chapter filled with love and understanding. It was a bittersweet ending, but deep down, Juhee knew that it was a necessary step in her journey to confront her feelings for Wonbin and to find herself again.
