ALEXIA-

"I think you should, just tell him what you feel. And by the way, we have a charity event to go to tomorrow by the way, I'm pretty sure Damian came up with some great excuse as to why he couldn't be there, probably because you could just stand in for him. We have to leave by 1pm."

"Damn, well I guess I would have to do then eventually. I'll speak to him after. What's the event about?"

ALEXIA-

"Ladies listen up, this prestigious piece of art is only going for $20,000, call your husbands, call your daddy's because this one cannot go to waste." The lady on the podium stood with her plastic smile and her gown. She looked like she wasn't straight out of Bridgerton, and the privilege that rolled off her in gallons made her even more the part. This went on for about 60 minutes by now but it felt like hours.

How did people even enjoy this? I looked around and all I could see were gleaming smiles and clapping hands every time a piece of art got sold.

It's not even like the art was good, it was just modern bullshit that no one actually liked but would get because a bunch of rich fucks said that it was important. The woman's screechy voice radiated from her place on the stage once again. "Highest bidder is 30,000! Who's going higher?" Great, now a white canvas with a dot in the middle was not only 20 grand by itself, someone has gone to the lengths to offer 30 thousand for a children's drawing.

I would have said at least it wasn't my money but I was told that to make us look good we would have to purchase at least one of these atrocities.

At least my miserability had a companion because Bella was just as unhappy to be here as I was. But looking at her picture-perfect smile and giggles that were on point, she was a way better actor than I was.

And just like clockwork, a photographer came to take pictures of the family. Fuck me.

Aside from Bella, Ziddan, Marcus and his wife which I had just discovered had joined us. They had a child too which was even more bizarre. He didn't look a day over 30 but had a ten-year-old boy that looked just like him. It helped that his wife had similar features with her light brown hair and green eyes. The child did not come with us though. I saw him vaguely before we left to come here and I guessed that he would be at home safely while we were all out.

Having so many of us in one place was sure to be a recipe for disaster if we didn't plan properly, adding a child into the mix would just have been unnecessary. And if I could barely sit through an hour of this I didn't know how a restless 10-year-old was meant to either.

"40.000 people! Who can top this?" These people clearly had too much money to waste, most of them didn't even have anything to cover up. They just did it for...fun.

I couldn't take any more of this so I excused myself to the restroom and made my way to the bathroom. Even if I could kill like 10 minutes of time it would be a job well done.

Well, even if I was bored to death I still looked pretty. Today I wore an emerald green gown with gold jewellery to stand out against the viridescent tones. My hair was styled and in an updo that made my hair glisten with shine. It was such a shame that a look like this was being wasted being miserable.

"Oh, Alexia." I turned around towards the cubicle to where the voice was coming from, only to see Markus' wife standing behind me. "Hi, sorry what was your name again?"
