ALEXIA-

He was so caught up with the guy who pushed me that he didn't even notice what I did.

Right on queue, they announced that the dances were starting. "I'm sorry, I have to go back to my husband now."

"Okay, you gonna be okay?" I nodded.

"Thank you for the help today." I gave him one last smile and started to make my way back into the other room. That was before someone stopped me. "Hey sister."

Fuck me.

How did he even get in here, let alone know who I was?

He was like a pest that I just couldn't get rid of. "Hey brother." I wanna throw up in my mouth.

"How are ya?" He stood, In his shiny tuxedo with a glass of champagne in his hand while he spoke to me.

"I'm okay, coping."

"Yeah I get you, I didn't come here for business though. I came here to tell you to be safe, I'm guessing from the fact that you're not that distraught right now, you don't know." He gave me a concerned look.

"Don't know what?"

"Your husband was with the people who owned you before."  huh.

"The Russians, they were talking. I don't know what about, I didn't even know that they knew each other. They're on two separate sides of crime, the Russians are all about sex trafficking, they've been in the game for a long time, it's what makes them money. He sells drugs, that's his thing. That's the Thorne empire, I don't see how a conversation could occur about business." What the fuck.

"I- I don't even know what to say." I was stumped. Never would I ever have thought that this day would come. Why the fuck were they talking and what the fuck were they talking about.

He was right, they had nothing in common. The Russians stayed to themselves, and if they were going to network with anyone it wouldn't be him.

The two sides of the underworld tended to clash a lot and since there was no direct business involved with any of them they usually stayed in their respective lanes.

So what the fuck was happening. "I don't know what to say either, just be careful. And be safe."

"How exactly am I meant to do that." I didn't know who to trust now.

"You could bug his phone, I was gonna recommend doing it later but what better time than now." I mean, he had a point. Not that I was working with him or anything but if I was the only one who had access to what he was saying then there was no way it could go wrong.

I was conflicted. I didn't tell him who was responsible for my scars, for my trauma but being....friends? With a sex trafficker was more than enough reason to be slightly suspicious.

Over the months we had gotten closer, but you never really know someone.

"Do you have a device?"

"No, but as soon as I saw them together I told one of the men to get one."

"When would you be able to give it to me, he can't know." This felt like working with the enemy and I hated it, it made me sick. But I had to do what I had to do and there was no way I was taking the chance of being a captive again just because of stupid feelings.

Not looking up from his phone he spoke, "The guy I came here with is our Interpol, he definitely has them on deck."
