A Breach in Loyalty.
"Mamma, why don't we celebrate Nik's birthday like ours? Why do we always cut the cake in his room? I don't like seeing him sad." The small boy tells his mother. His grey eyes worried. The woman standing right infront of him has the most comforting light brown pair of eyes. She places her hand on the boy's head affectionately as she smiles sadly at him.
"One day Rik, one day you and Dev will celebrate his birthday just like yours. May be I'll not be there anymore or may be I'll be, but I'll always watch over the three of you. And know that I'll be very, very proud of you." The woman says looking out of the window as her eyes tear up. She has a thin frame, her pale skin has lost its shine and the dark circles around her eyes have taken away the spark in it.
"Where will you go?" A small voice utters from outside the door. The woman turns her head to find another pair of curious grey eyes peeking from behind the doorframe.
"Nowhere love. I'll always be with you. Come here." The woman says opening her arms. The open arms look too welcoming to the kid as he runs straight into it.
"Mamma.." He whispers in her arms, burying his face in the crook of her neck, not understanding why his throat feels all clogged up.
"Happy Birthday Nik." The woman says.
And just like every other year he utters "Happy Birthday Mamma."
It isn't her birthday, but it's his habit of wishing back his loved ones, no matter what the occasion is.

The sky is mirroring his grey eyes. The weather has suddenly turned a bit windy and cold. Vulcan releases another ring of smoke into the air and closes his eyes once again. The numb pain in his chest just won't subside. He tries to ignore the surfacing memories but fails quite miserably as the incidents keep rushing back to him.
The first day he saw her entering the Nagpati mansion. He was all set to drive away and meet Teressa but his seatbelt got jammed. He kept pulling on it feeling frustrated, when all of a sudden the huge metal gate opened with a noise and he snapped his eyes towards it. He regrets, he regrets looking at the beautiful emerging figure of Pihu Bhattacharya, he regrets looking at her bright obsidian eyes because at that very moment every part of his body, every beat of his heart screamed to be with her, to touch her and he couldn't, he committed his one sided loyalty towards Teressa long before. So he just clenched his eyes shut and held the steering wheel with all his might.
That's it, she was the breach in his unconditional loyalty towards Teressa and he hated it. He promised himself that he won't ever talk to this woman if not necessary. He would avoid her at any cost because he could not allow this kind of feelings for someone who wasn't Teressa.
Days went by and he kept himself far, far away from Pihu but even at the rarest encounters he felt like her eyes could penetrate through his soul.
Life has never been too kind to him.During his childhood he hardly ever got to see his brothers because throughout the years they used to spend times separately. Both his brothers read in the same school when he was admitted in a different school. They both had the same private tutors when he had none. Although he never needed one because he had his mother, the only person he depended on. During the holidays Daivik and Ritwik could never stay back at home, even though they wanted to. Their father used to take them out for days due to his business trips. But his Mamma always stayed back using the same excuse everythime that her sickness won't allow her to travel for long. It was one of the reasons, true, but he knew she stayed back for him. And he couldn't help but love her more for it.
