Halloween bedtime story

This has no real connection to the other chapters but it could if you want to see it that way.

Dorothy was in the Emerald city with her friends. The ones needed food were having dinner in the dining room of the Palace, but Lion who said he will get his own meal. Even the ones that didn't have to eat were in the dining room, talking with Dorothy and Ozma. Soon enough Lion entered the room after his meal and slowly joined in whatever the conversation was.

The group went to decide whose turn to tell a Halloween theme story to tell. It's a new thing they just started. It's an idea Dorothy, Ozma, and Scarecrow made. The group decided on Nick to tell a story.

"Ok, where do you want me to tell the story?" Nick asked the group as he started to collect Dorothy's and Ozma's plates.

"Let's do it in the common area, me and Dorothy already put some comfortable stuff in there already" Ozma cheerfully said.

"The common area it is" Scarecrow happily said.

Scarecrow picked up Mr. Gump.

"Let's go" Scarecrow happily laughed.

"Go ahead and get yourselves comfortable. I'm going to be there in a few" Nick happily told the group.

"Ok Nick, don't take too long" Scarecrow happily said over his shoulder as he was the last to leave the room.

"I'll try my best" Nick replied.

When they got to the common area, Dorothy and Ozma went to the blankets. Scarecrow went to put Mr. Gump against the near the girls. Jack rushed next to Ozma laughing with joy like the others. Scarecrow grabbed a folded blanket and when Dorothy, Ozma, and Jack were settled, he opened the blanket and threw it over the three. The three pulled on the blanket till it was just their heads and half of Jack's legs poking out of it. Lion went to Dorothy's side to lay down. Scarecrow in front of the group went to his knees.

"Ok kids, for Nick's story, I'm going to try to act it out like the last couple" Scarecrow happily said. "Any questions before Nick comes?" Scarecrow asked.

"I do" Jack said. "When is Tiktok going to be back?" Jack asked.

"Soon hopefully" Scarecrow cheerfully said.

Jack happily nodded. Nick then walked into the room while trying to oil his wrist and finger joints. Scarecrow went to Nick and took the oil can to do it for him.

"Tried washing the dishes" Scarecrow sighed.

"Yep" Nick chuckled.

"Done" Scarecrow said as he finished. "Want me to act out your story?"

"Sure thing Scarecrow, go for it" Nick chuckled.

Scarecrow smiled and placed the oil can down.

"Ok, everyone ready?" Nick asked everyone.

"Yes but let's wait for Tiktok. I believe he'll be in a few minutes from his protocol around the city" Dorothy said as she turned her head to Ozma. "Right Ozma?"

Ozma nodded. That gave Nick a few extra minutes to think of a story. Tiktok soon entered the area.

"Your Majesty, I-I'm d-done for tonight" Tiktok said.

"Thank you Tiktok" Ozma said. "Would you like to join us for a story tonight?"

Tiktok went to take his seat with the group.

"I will but I won't t-tell an-y stories" Tiktok said.

"You don't have to if you want to, Tiktok. All of this is for fun" Dorothy happily said.

Then everyone was ready. Nick sat on his knees and Scarecrow continued to stand to act out the story.

"Ok, this story was from my mom scaring me on going outside past dark, it may not be that scary" Nick said with a small chuckle as he saw Scarecrow to start acting.

                         The story                        

Once there was a boy walking down a dark path in the forest. It was late at night and he was far from home. The boy was looking for his way home but couldn't find it. Even though beasts were sleeping, little noises kept popping up here and there. The boy was lost, all alone, scared if something will have him as a light night snack. Then he heard a tig snap behind him. The boy started to run and didn't dare to look back. The boy heard footsteps and heavy breathing behind him.

"Mom, Dad" the boy called out for his parents in fear.

After what seemed like forever, he saw his home ahead. The boy when close to his home, he looked back to only get a glance at the beast chasing him. A Kalidah was chasing him. He ran on the porch while tripping a bit. The boy looked back quickly to see how far it was from him. Then there was a rumble and another. The Kalidah seemed scared and ran off. The boy quickly entered his home and shut the door. He went to his parents for comfort. 

     The end

Nick finished his story and Scarecrow was on his knees with his arms crossed in a way like he was hugging someone. Jack seemed a little frightened by the story, especially at the chasing scene. Dorothy and Ozma would be too if it wasn't for Scarecrow doing cartoonish poses for the story. Once Scarecrow fell on his face but got up and continued like nothing happened.

"Scarecrow, are you sure you're fine after the fall?" Dorothy asked her friend with a hint of a chuckle.

"Yep, I'm always fine when I fall since I can't feel much" Scarecrow chuckled as he fully patted his head into its original shape.

"But that doesn't stop us from worrying about it" Nick said.

Soon some laughing died down from Mr. Gump and Lion who were laughing at the funny poses Scarecrow did.

"Good job on telling a story Tinman but it needs to be a little more scary" Mr. Gump said with a chuckle.

"Well it's meant to be a bedtime story so I was trying not to make it that scary" Nick replied.

"I found it alright" Lion replied with a yawn. "The wise nut case made it funny"

"And I'm glad you weren't scared" Nick said.

"Are you ok Jack?" Ozma asked Jack.

"I will be, mom" Jack replied to Ozma.

"What did you think of it, Tiktok?" Dorothy asked Tiktok.

"I think it was decent, even though it didn't scare me" Tiktok replied.

Dorothy happily nodded. The girls and Lion yawned. Scarecrow and Nick went over to them.

"Bed time" Nick said to the girls.

"Me and Nick will clean this up for you" Scarecrow said, referring to the blankets.

"You don't have to" Dorothy tiredly said.

"And we will, gives us something to do" Nick chuckled.

Scarecrow and Nick took the girls to bed while Lion went to his room. Jack picked up Mr. Gump and went to put him in his usual spot. Tiktok continued his job walking around, making sure everything was safe.

"Nick, was the rumbling in the story the giant spider?" Dorothy asked Nick.

"Yep, I had a feeling you will get that" Nick chuckled as he tucked her in. "I'll stay a bit till you fall asleep"

"Thank you Nick" Dorothy quietly said.

I know the story told wasn't that scary but it was the best I could do in two days. I hope you enjoy it though.
