This is a fun idea that my mom and I came up with a few days ago.

A Winkie soldier helped Scarecrow to his room. Scarecrow got in a small accident where there is a big hole in his right leg that's actuality spilling straw. The Winkie soldier was on Scarecrow's right to help him walk with Scarecrow having his cane in his left hand to help. The Winkie soldier sat Scarecrow in a chair with wheels.

"I'm going to get extra straw sir" The Winkie soldier said. "Need anything else?" She asked.

"Yes, tell Nick to come here when you're out to help with the patch" Scarecrow thankfully said to the soldier.

"On it sir" The Winkie soldier said.

The Winkie soldier left to get some straw and the Tinman. Scarecrow on the other hand, got a patch, a needle and thread. Scarecrow went to the bed and grabbed the cover. There were a lot of patches on it because of Scarecrow practicing how to sew. He didn't get the thread into the needle till Tinman rushed in with the same Winkie soldier. Scarecrow put the cover back on the bed quickly. Scarecrow turned in the chair to hand Tinman the patch, needle and thread to quickly find out Tinman brought his own stuff. The soldier and Tinman helped Scarecrow to restuff his leg.

"Scarecrow, you need to be more careful during your little adventures" Tinman sighed as he helped Scarecrow to pat his leg in shape before putting on the patch.

"I know, it's sometimes hard to be careful when there's something new to see" Scarecrow sighed back.

The Winkie soldier left to put the straw back and to go back and back to guard the palace after that. Tinman started to stitch up the spot on Scarecrow's leg.

"But still, you need to be careful" Tinman said sternly.

"I'll try Nick" Scarecrow happily said to Tinman.

Tinman finished the patch after a few minutes and Scarecrow thanked him. Scarecrow grabbed the needle with thread still in and went to push the chair with his feet to the bed. He took off the cover again.

"Nick, can you hand me a patch on my desk please?" Scarecrow asked.

"Sure thing" Tinman chuckled.

Tinman handed the piece of cloth to Scarecrow. Scarecrow slowly started to stitch up a random piece with the patch. Tinman sat down on the bed to watch his friend.

"Your sewing has improved some" Tinman complemented Scarecrow.

"Thank you Nick" Scarecrow happily said. "Though I still have trouble getting thread into the little hole of the needle" Scarecrow sighed.

"No problem and I can help you with it if you want me to" Tinman replied.

"That would be nice" Scarecrow happily said.

Tinman smiled as he watched Scarecrow continue to sew. Scarecrow after a few minutes was finished.

"How did I do?" Scarecrow asked Tinman.

"You did great my friend" Tinman chuckled.

"Thank you" Scarecrow smiled. "Soon I will be able to help you patch me up when needed" Scarecrow happily said.

Scarecrow stood up from the chair and spun around a little where his back was facing the bed. Scarecrow sat down on the bed next to Tinman. The bed cover gave the Scarecrow an idea.

"I got an idea" Scarecrow happily said to Tinman.

"What's your idea, Scarecrow?" Tinman asked.

"We can make a quilt for Dorothy" Scarecrow happily said. "If I'm right, if we start now or tomorrow, we can finish it by her birthday. We can give it to her as a birthday gift"

"That's a wonderful idea" Tinman happily said.

"When do you want to start making it?" Scarecrow asked.

"How about morning. We can get the stuff needed when the stores open" Tinman replied.

"Sure thing. In the meantime, we can plan it out and send a letter to Lion to see if he wants to help" Scarecrow said as he got back in the chair.

"Sounds great. I will start on the letter for Lion" Tinman said.

"Thank you Nick, I will start on the planning" Scarecrow happily said.

They did just that. Tinman wrote the letter and Scarecrow did the planning of the quilt. After Tinman wrote the letter, he sent it off to Lion.

"Do you think Jack, Ozma, Billina, Tiktok and Mr. Gump want to add on the quilt to?" Scarecrow asked out of the blue to the Tinman.

"I see why not" Tinman chuckled. "I will write a letter to the Emerald city to ask if you want"

"Sure thing, Nick" Scarecrow happily said.

Tinman started to write a letter to the Emerald city. He soon sent that letter off too.

I will maybe make a part two of this idea. This can be in whatever Oz verse you want. For me, it's in the Return to Oz verse with a little more from the first book.

Again, this is a fun idea for me and Mom made together a few days ago. I hope you enjoy this chapter.
