Book 1 of Monte Carlo Series
Escaping her chaotic past, Katrina moves to Monaco to start a new life. With a single bag and a guitar, she sets on a brand new journey to reacquaint with herself and maybe find love along the way.
The excitement leading up to the opening race was becoming increasingly difficult to hide.
Charles had been FaceTiming her a lot recently. With the testing now over, they finally had a few days where they could enjoy longer phone calls with each other.
Sammy was in the same position as she had been when she first arrived in Monaco. She had no prior knowledge of Formula One, so now they were spending time introducing her to the grid and helping her understand the basics of Formula Racing. It still amazed her how Max had managed to teach Sammy everything on her own.
While she was in the kitchen preparing some snacks, she noticed Max talking to someone, which struck her as unusual. She leaned in closer, curious about the conversation.
"Well, good luck to you... K is just in the kitchen preparing snacks... It's nice to meet you too... "
She grabbed her phone and saw that Mavi was on FaceTime with Charles.
"Hi Mon Amour" Charles greeted smiling
"Max!" I warned loudly, hitting her with the pillow beside her. From behind Charles, I saw another head appear
"Yeah?" It was Max Verstappen
"Oh sorry Emilian, I'm talking to my friend, her name is also Max"
"Oh okay, hi" he greeted before disappearing
"Mon bebe, I'm so sorry for maxie. I told her not to mess with my phone"
"It's okay my love. I'm happy to know you are not on your own while Im not there"
Charles' POV
The testing had been successful, at least for Ferrari. The car felt solid this year, which was a promising sign. As expected, Red Bull had the fastest car again, and it seemed like it would be a real challenge to beat Max and the Red Bull team this season. It had only been a few days since Charles had last seen Katrina, but he already found himself missing her. He had tried to convince her to watch the race, but she had told him she wasn't ready yet. The others had also extended their invitations, but she had reluctantly declined.
"She promised to attend some races, just let her adjust, Charlie. It's different for us when we watch at home and in person. This is her first official race since you started dating, let her deal with it first," Lily, Alex's girlfriend, reassured him. Some of the drivers and their partners who were already in Bahrain had decided to meet up for dinner.
Alex was in the middle of telling a story about the time he, George, and Lando played paddle when Charles' phone rang, pulling him out of the conversation.
