Charles' POV
A week had passed since the conversation Charles had with the guys, but it had been on his mind non-stop. It had been a year or two since his breakup with his ex-girlfriend, a messy and painful end that had sent him into a downward spiral. Though he had long moved on from her, the scars she left behind still lingered, a constant reminder of the damage done.
The past few days had made Charles realize a lot of things. The realization hit him hard, like a truck, and it left him feeling terrified. He found himself scrolling through the photos on his phone, his thoughts racing. It was strange how quickly things could change. The year 2023 had started with family pictures, race shots, and random party photos. But then, the subject of his photos gradually began to shift. Before he knew it, hundreds of pictures of Katrina smiling, taken during their hangouts, had taken over his phone. He had always sensed something different about her when he first saw her at his party, but he never imagined she would become so important to him.
"Just think about it, Charles," Pierre's voice echoed in his mind. "You're right, we don't know if she feels the same way, but you'll never know unless you try. If she doesn't like you back, at least you'll have a chance to move on before your feelings get too deep, and you can still keep your friendship. If she does like you, then you'll have a chance to be happy with her." Pierre's words from their call a few nights ago resonated deeply with Charles.
He knew Katrina was special to him, but he still wasn't sure whether he should act on his feelings. The thought of risking their friendship if things didn't work out held him back. What if he made the wrong move? What if everything changed forever?
