𝟎𝟕: 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐧

Chapter 7  : Tears laced with Vervain

The next morning Iris and Damon are sitting on the couches downstairs, flicking through more of Isobel's research on Katherine as someone Knocks on the door. "You gonna get that?" Iris asks her brother, "you have legs? Use them" Damon replies as Iris rolls her eyes and makes her way over to the door, "oh hey jer" she greets as she opens the door to see the youngest Gilbert standing before her

"I need to talk to you two" Jeremy says as Damon takes the door knob from his sister and he holds it open, pushing her to the side. "And why do we need to talk to you?" Damon asks as he tries to close the door on Jeremy but Jeremy pushes the door back open. "Tyler Lockwood has to kill someone to activate his curse. He's not a werewolf yet" Jeremy informs, "Wow, fascinating" Damon sarcastically says,  "Not enough" he adds as he tries to lose the door on him again but Jeremy sticks his foot in the frame.

"But Mason Lockwood is and he's looking for a moonstone, a special rock connected to the werewolf legend. That's why he's here" Jeremy adds, "A moonstone?" Damon and Iris ask at the same time. "And I know where it is" Jeremy adds. "And you're bringing us this, why?" Damon asks, "Do I need a reason? Look, I just want to help, okay?" Jeremy asks. "What's your sister say about this little discovery?" Damon questions with a raised eyebrow.

Jeremy just looks down briefly and stays silent, "Oh, you haven't told her, have you?" Damon asks as Iris rolls her eyes, Elena isn't Jeremy's mother for god sake. "Well, Elena doesn't want me getting involved in all this" Jeremy confesses as he tries to walk in the house but Damon pushes him back. "And you're Gilbert and you just can't help yourself. Wow. Your search for life's purpose is as obvious as it is tragic" Damon adds. "Are you going to let me in or not?" Jeremy asks as Damon sighs and lets him in.

About an hour later Alaric walks into the Salvatore house with a box of Isobels research, "Ric!" Iris exclaims as she sees Alric enter. "What are you doing here?" Alaric asks Jeremy, "Helping Iris and  Damon. I'm the one who found out about the moonstone" Jeremy says as Aalric looks at Damon who just shrugs his shoulders. "Does Elena know you're here?" Alaric asks, looking back at Jeremy
"Not exactly" Jeremy sheepishly answers, "What you got?" Damon asks, "This is Isobel research's from Duke. Her assistant sent it to me" Alaric informs, "Mmm, Vanessa. The hottie" Damon mutters as Iris sends her brother a disgusted look.

"Vanessa, yes. Now, do you remember the old Aztec curse she told us about?" Alaric asks, "Sun and the moon, blah blah blah blah blah" Iris mocks. "An Aztec curse? Cool" Jeremy remarks, "Yeah, supposedly vampires and werewolves used to roam freely until a shaman put a curse on them to limit their power. Since then, werewolves can only turn on a full moon and vampires are weakened by the sun" Alaric explains.

"Most of them, anyway" Damon adds, "According to the legend, the werewolf part of the curse is sealed with the moonstone" Alaric explains. "What do you mean sealed?" Jeremy asks, clearly confused. "It's a witch thing, whatever seals the curse is usually the key to unsealing the curse" Damon replies.

"Maybe Mason Lockwood believes he can use the moonstone to break the curse" Iris speaks up, "If we start believing in some supernatural witchy-woo legend from a picture book, we're idiots. Who has the stone now?" Damon asks, "Tyler" Jeremy answers. "Can you get it?" Iris asks, "Yeah" Jeremy answers.

"See, now your life has purpose" Damon remarks, "So, you do believe it?" Jeremy questions, "It's the same book that says a werewolf bite kills a vampire" Damon says, "Ignoring it would make me an even bigger idiot. Let's go" Iris adds.

As Damon, Iris and Jeremy arrive at the lockwood mansion Elena walks up to them, "Damon, what are you doing here?" She asks, "Looking for my baby bro. Speaking of, would you tell yours to stop following us around?" Damon asks, "What's going on?" Elena confusingly questions. "Ask eager beaver" Iris comments as her and Damon walk off.
