A day had gone by, feeling like a year.
Caitlyn had Viktor taking care of her baby brother as she was bed stricken from her weakness. No matter how tired she felt, she refused to sleep... just in case someone would come back. As the Princess lay lost in thought, Viktor heard a couple of knocks on the Palace doors. Caitlyn didn't hear them though.
"I will be right back, Your Highness," Viktor told her. He grabbed his cane and coughed before heading down towards the front doors. He opened the doors and there stood Lady Medarda and her children, Mel and Nico. "Lady Medarda," Viktor muttered.
"Where is the Princess?" The woman demanded.
"I'm afraid she is ill and was unable to answer to your letters. She understands she needs to give in."
"Move, you peasant," Lady Medarda hissed before shoving by Viktor. Her children followed behind, Nico patting the sick man's shoulder.
Ambessa stomped down the hall, her children quick to follow. Viktor tried his best to keep up, "Where are her bed chambers?" The Lady asked.
"Opposite of the King's," Viktor told her.
Caitlyn was barely awake as the Medarda woman barged into her bed chambers. Mel and Nico stayed back as their mother walked over towards the side of the bed. "You look awful," she told the Princess.
"I assumed that I wouldn't look the greatest," Caitlyn said with a light crack in her voice. "I'm sure it will pass."
"Not if you do not see a doctor. You must."
"The only thing that doctor will do is ask for my symptoms, check my heartbeat, say I have the flu, then leave me here."
"There are other things that the doctor could tell you."
Viktor coughed a bit before speaking, "If I may, Your Highness, perhaps I could call in my doctor. He could give you more solutions to your illness-"
"There is no need for that," A voice spoke.
"How dare you just barge into the-" Caitlyn interrupted the Lady.
"She's fine, she is allowed in here," she told Ambessa before coughing a bit. "I would prefer it if you left, actually."
"I beg your pardon-"
"Even in my current state, I have higher authority than you, Lady Medarda. I would respect you less if you continued to disrespect my home and I. Even my only worker."
"Your Highness, I'd hate to rush you. The Parliament is waiting for you though. They need a coronation for you. If you do not give it to them, Piltover remains an anarchy."
"I will give it to them when I am not ill. Until then, you tell them all to go to hell."
~~~~~~~~
"My deepest apologies for that, Powder," Caitlyn said as Viktor closed the doors of the bed chambers. "This appears to be urgent, is everything alright?"
"I've done some research for you," Powder said, holding up a folded piece of paper. "I believe it will tell you more than any doctor possibly could. It isn't the flu, it isn't the plague. Not even the sweating sickness. It isn't a sickness at all... I cannot tell you if you do not wish to hear it. I will tell you that there is no solution."
"I cannot think of something that is not an illness that does not have a solution."
"I can," Viktor spoke. "But I do believe the Noble is right. You must give us permission to tell you."
"I believe I'm already beginning to come up with a guess for it..." Caitlyn's voice grew a bit choppy as she began to tear up. There was, in fact, no solution for her at all. She only needed one thing in that current moment, and that was to not be alone.
"Please, do not cry," Powder said, her hand gently holding onto Caitlyn's. "I will get my sister for you. She will understand-"
"She wouldn't care to understand," the Princess said. "Perhaps I will just... move on."
"You cannot do that, Caitlyn. There is still time. Time to convince Vi that she is making a mistake. Time for you two."
"I do not want to be an inconvenience for her. Or the rest of your family."
"You're not. You never have been."
There was a loud clap of thunder from outside. Powder looked over her shoulder before getting up from the side of the bed, "I must get home before the storm. Even if you specifically asked me not to, I will speak with Vi. You should not have to bare any of this alone..."
The Noble soon became a blue blur as Caitlyn to fall asleep.
~~~~~~~~~
Vi was still in a deep slumber as her little sister stormed into her bed chambers. Powder back handed her older sister's head, immediately waking her up.
"What is your problem?!" Vi hissed, jumping up.
"You are to visit the Princess," Powder demanded, her fisted beginning to ball up.
"You know that-"
"You will visit her."
"Or what? What will you do?"
"Respectfully, sister, I will have you knocked out and I will have our dear brothers drag you up to the Palace to see her."
"And what is so urgent that you ran home to do research on the woman, hm? Why is she such a concern to you-?"
Powder had slapped her. "The both of you are a concern to me!" She snapped. "Both! You just threw away a years worth of love and trust all because you changed your mind last minute! You've left us all confused and angry, Vi."
Vi shook her head, "You spoke of researching her illness. What did you find?"
"I will not tell you. She ordered me not to. She was afraid it would be inconvenient to you. I will not allow neither one of you to move on from this. That woman is heart broken because of you. She missed her coronation over you because she felt too unwell to leave her bed."
"This is not my fault."
"Isn't it, Violet? You left her in pain during the worst possible time... her only worker, Viktor told me that she was on her knees, begging for you to stay. You've never done something like this. You've never made a mistake this large-"
"You act as if you've never made mistakes. As if you do not make them all of the time."
"Perhaps I have. If I were you, I would not leave my lover and my child alone with no help."
"Child...?"
