The morning sun barely peeked through the curtains when the chaos at Noah’s house began. On the second floor, the faint sound of an alarm clock ringing was quickly overshadowed by a much louder, more familiar voice.
“WAKE UPPPPP!” Reverie’s voice echoed through the halls like an air raid siren, blasting through each room on the second floor. She stood in the hallway, her arms crossed over her chest, tapping her foot impatiently as she shouted again. “Noah! Theo! Dani! School’s in an hour! Move it!”
Danielle groaned loudly from her bed, pulling the covers over her head, trying to drown out Reverie’s morning energy. “Oh my god, why do you have to yell every single morning?” she mumbled, her voice muffled by the pillow. “Why can’t you be normal for once, Rev?”
Noah, already awake but still lounging in his bed, smirked as he heard Danielle’s protest. He rolled over, grabbing his phone to check the time, and shouted back through the door, “Maybe she yells because you’re always the last one up, Dani!”
Reverie knocked on Noah’s door, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Thank you, Noah! But we’ve still got a kitchen to conquer, bathrooms to fight over, and a stressed-out Danielle to deal with.”
Theodore’s door creaked open just as Reverie started her next round of wake-up calls. He walked out of his room, already dressed in his school uniform, his hair slightly damp from his quick shower. He shot Reverie a tired but amused look. “Do you always have to go full-volume this early?”
Reverie grinned, leaning against the doorframe of Theodore’s room. “Well, someone has to make sure everyone’s up. And I think I do a pretty good job at it.”
“You’re too good at it.” Theodore chuckled, shaking his head as he walked toward the kitchen. “Let me guess, you want breakfast now too?”
“Obviously.” Reverie flashed a playful smile before skipping down the hall. “I’ll leave it to you, chef!”
Danielle finally pulled herself out of bed, grumbling as she fumbled for her glasses. “I swear, living here is like boot camp.”
Meanwhile, Noah was still lounging on his bed, pretending not to hear Reverie’s earlier shout. He lazily stretched his arms and shouted to no one in particular, “Who’s taking the bathroom first?”
Danielle, who had just stepped out of her room, whipped her head toward Noah’s door. “I better not hear you hogging it again, Noah!” she snapped, marching toward the bathroom, determined to get there first.
Noah sprang out of bed with sudden energy, his smirk growing wider. “Race you to it, Dani!”
Danielle’s eyes widened as she broke into a sprint, but Noah was already ahead of her, laughing as he darted into the bathroom and slammed the door shut.
“NOAH!” Danielle shrieked, pounding on the door. “You’re the worst! I’ll kill you if you take more than five minutes in there!”
“Five minutes? You wish,” Noah called back, the sound of the shower turning on making Danielle groan even louder. She slumped against the door, muttering curses under her breath.
Reverie, leaning against the hallway wall, shook her head with a wide grin. “This is what you get for living with three overactive people.”
Danielle turned, glaring at her. “You’re overactive! I’m just trying to survive.”
Downstairs, Theodore was already busy in the kitchen, cracking eggs into a pan, the sizzling sound filling the space as he prepared breakfast. He had originally thought moving into this big house meant he wouldn’t have to lift a finger in the kitchen, but it hadn’t turned out that way.
