Joong sat at the small kitchen table, lost in thought as he flipped through old photos and notes he'd gathered in his investigation of Phuwin's life. Dunk entered the kitchen, noticing Joong's serious expression. Dunk placed a mug of coffee in front of him, breaking the silence with a gentle nudge.
"You're up early," Dunk said, taking a seat across from Joong. "Still digging into Phuwin's life?"
Joong looked up, surprised. "I just... can't shake the feeling that something's not right, Dunk. Pond's been hurting for years because of Phuwin's sudden disappearance, and now that he's back, there's this... secrecy surrounding him. It doesn't add up."
Dunk nodded, concern etched on his face. "I get it. You want answers for Pond. But are you sure this is what he really needs?"
Joong took a deep breath, his gaze falling back to the papers in front of him. "I don't know. But I think he deserves to know the truth, even if it's painful. I can't just stand by and watch him suffer without trying to understand why."
Dunk placed a comforting hand on Joong's. "I just want you to be careful, Joong. Sometimes, the truth can cause more harm than good."
Joong nodded, appreciating Dunk's support. He knew Dunk was right, but something deep inside urged him to keep looking. He couldn't shake the feeling that Phuwin was hiding something significant, something that could change everything for Pond.
Later that afternoon, Joong and Dunk decided to pay Pond a visit. They hadn't seen him in a few days, and Joong sensed Pond needed some company, especially after his recent encounter with Phuwin.
Pond opened the door, his face lighting up when he saw them. "Hey, you two. Come on in."
They settled into the living room, sharing small talk and laughter, but Joong noticed Pond's distant expression, as if he were carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. After a while, Dunk nudged Joong, encouraging him to bring up the topic they'd been dancing around.
"Pond," Joong began cautiously, "you've been through a lot since you saw Phuwin again. How are you holding up?"
Pond hesitated, then let out a sigh. "Honestly? I'm confused. There's something... off about him. I feel like he's hiding something from me, something important."
Joong exchanged a quick glance with Dunk, deciding it was time to share some of his findings. "Pond, I don't want to make things harder, but I've been doing a little digging... just to understand what's going on."
Pond's eyes widened, a mixture of surprise and curiosity flashing across his face. "What did you find?"
Joong took a deep breath. "It's not much, but there are hints that Phuwin might have children. I don't have all the details yet, but I keep finding connections that suggest he's been raising kids with Gemini and Fourth."
Pond's expression shifted, a mix of shock and disbelief. "Children? With Gemini and Fourth?"
Dunk reached over, giving Pond's shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "We don't know the full story yet, but if it's true, maybe there's more to Phuwin's life than we realized. You don't have to face this alone, Pond."
Pond nodded, though his mind was racing. The idea of Phuwin having children—a family—left him reeling, and he couldn't shake the feeling that this revelation was only the beginning.
Later that evening, back at home, Joong resumed his investigation, Dunk by his side. Dunk quietly observed as Joong sifted through documents, carefully studying each one for clues. Joong finally found something: a set of records listing Phuwin as a guardian for two children, born around the time Pond and Phuwin had been together.
