3rd Person POV (Darv)

Smoke filled the sky above Vildorial with the sounds of battle reverberating through the air. Battle cries, explosions, spells, and metal clashing could be heard throughout the city as the Alacryan and Dicathen armies fought for dominion.

On the eastern side of the city, Alacryan forces gathered together in a large formation in the middle of the street in an attempt to halt the Dicathen advance. They stood shoulder to shoulder, sweat rolling down their brows, bodies shaking in fear, and gripping their weapons tightly as they heard the Dicathen forces advancing. Their eyes were locked on the curve in the road, seeing the burning buildings and hearing the loud footsteps of the Dicathens as they drew closer.

"Casters!" The Alacryan lieutenant called out from the rear of the formation. "Prepare to fire on my command! Shields, move to the front of the formation!"

The Alacryan soldiers obeyed their leader without a word, shifting around in formation. Just as they began to get set, a large mass of Dicathen warriors came into view as they banked around the corner. The Dicathens immediately noticed the large formation of Alacryan soldiers and prepared their weapons to plow through them and continue their mission to retake the city. Several dwarven soldiers could be seen leading the charge, determined to take back their home.

"Casters, fire!" The Alacryan lieutenant yelled.

The Alacryan casters in the rear of the formation prepared and released their spells, sending them flying through the air toward the advancing Dicathens. The Dicathen army came to an immediate halt, seeing the incoming ranged attack.

"Barriers!" A Dicathen captain yelled from the front of the formation.

Several conjurers waved their staffs or wands in the air, creating numerous barriers of significant size, covering the Dicathen formation. The Alacryan spells crashed into their magic barriers with various explosions, and the Dicathen conjurers grunted slightly from the impact.

"Casters, continue to fire! Shields and strikers, advance!" The Alacryan captain yelled.

The Alacryan footsteps sounded like thunder as the strikers and shields began to advance on the Dicathens in formation.

"Dicathens!" The Dicathen captain yelled, holding his sword in the air. "Defensive positions!"

The Dicathens yelled loudly, drowning out the Alacryan footsteps, preparing their weapons and glaring at the Alacryans as they slowly advanced on their barrier.

The Alacryan lieutenant raised his sword in the air and yelled as their forces closed in, "Char-"

The lieutenant was cut off as an ice sword pierced him through the top of his head, and his body immediately fell to the floor. The Alacryan soldiers standing near the lieutenant all looked at their leader in surprise as his limp body lay on the ground, and blood pooled beneath him. The Alacryan soldiers in the front of the formation looked at each other, confused, wondering why the lieutenant suddenly stopped talking. However, their confused looks quickly turned to concern, feeling the temperature around them drop considerably.

"Above us!" An Alacryan caster yelled.

The casters stopped their attacks as all the Alacryans looked up, and their eyes widened in fear, seeing Varay levitating above their formation, glaring at them with a cold expression. Varay raised her arms, creating an icy cyclone around the Alacryan formation. The Alarcyans yelled and grunted from the onslaught of the freezing wind, feeling tiny shards of glass cut at their skin. Varay clapped her hands together, and the cyclone collapsed, engulfing the Alacryans in a blanket of frost.
