Siddharth nods, though a sense of unease creeps over him. He follows the dean into his office, where the door is shut behind them. The atmosphere is tense.

Professor Malhotra: (sitting down, folding his hands on the desk) I've been hearing some troubling rumors, Siddharth. Rumors involving you and one of your students-Ms. Avneet Kaur.

Siddharth remains calm, though his heart is racing. He knew this moment might come, but it doesn't make it any easier.

Siddharth: (carefully) I'm aware of the rumors, sir. But I can assure you, nothing inappropriate has happened between Ms. Kaur and myself. These are just baseless accusations.

Professor Malhotra watches him closely, his expression unreadable.

Professor Malhotra: (gravely) Rumors like these can have serious consequences, Siddharth. For you and for Ms. Kaur. Whether they're true or not, they can tarnish reputations. I hope you understand the gravity of the situation.

Siddharth nods, keeping his voice steady.

Siddharth: I do, sir. I would never do anything to compromise my position or Ms. Kaur's future. She's a brilliant student, and any interactions we've had have been purely professional.

Professor Malhotra leans back in his chair, his gaze still sharp.

Professor Malhotra: (after a pause) Very well. I'll be keeping an eye on the situation. But I trust that you'll do everything in your power to avoid any further complications.

Siddharth nods, his jaw tight. He knows this is just the beginning of a much larger battle. As he leaves the dean's office, a sense of dread settles in his chest. The rumors are no longer just idle gossip-they're becoming a serious threat to both him and Avneet.

That evening, Siddharth meets Avneet at their usual spot again. She can tell something is off the moment she sees him, and her heart sinks as he explains what happened with Professor Malhotra.

Avneet: (anxious) So now the administration knows? What are we going to do?

Siddharth sighs, running a hand through his hair.

Siddharth: We need to be more careful. The dean's watching us now, and any slip-up could lead to real consequences.

Avneet nods, her mind racing. She feels like they're running out of time, like the walls are closing in around them.

Avneet: (quietly) Maybe... maybe we should stop seeing each other. At least until this blows over.

Siddharth's heart clenches at her words. He doesn't want to let her go, but he knows she's right. The risk is too great, and their futures are at stake.
