Authors pov
The air was thick with shock as Hoseok stood frozen, Jinseok's proposal still ringing in his ears. He blinked, trying to process the words, but they only made less sense the more he thought about them. His father laughed nervously, tilting his head with an awkward smile.
"I'm sorry, what?" he asked, as though he'd misheard.
Jinseok sighed, gesturing to the couch. "Perhaps we should all sit down before I continue."
Hoseok swallowed, nodding reluctantly as he moved to perch on the armrest of the couch, knowing there wasn't enough room. His parents sat beside Jinseok, who cleared his throat, glancing at each of them before he began.
"I want Hoseok," he said steadily, "to marry my six sons."
Hoseok's eyes nearly popped out of his head, and he shook his head vigorously. "Okay, this conversation is over." He jumped up, but before he could escape, his mother grabbed his wrist and yanked him back onto the couch, whispering sharply, "Sit your ass down."
He shot her a look of utter disbelief, but the intensity in her glare made him stay put, though he yanked his hand back with a scowl, his expression a mix of irritation and bewilderment.
With a resigned sigh, his father gestured for Jinseok to continue. "Please, go on," he said, almost too eagerly.
Jinseok's gaze flickered to Hoseok, then back to his parents. "I have six sons," he explained. "They're the heirs to my entire empire, and as I'm getting older, I need them to settle down. They're responsible, diligent young men-but, well... let's just say they don't know how to pick a decent partner."
Hoseok rolled his eyes, muttering under his breath, "Isn't that their own problem?"
But Jinseok continued undeterred. "All the girlfriends they've brought home are shallow gold diggers, interested only in their money. The one they're seeing right now is just the same, but they're too blinded by her charms. I'm certain she'll run off with their wealth one day and never give them an heir."
He looked earnestly at Hoseok. "I know this is a lot to ask, but I need your help. I want you to marry my sons and provide them with an heir."
Hoseok's jaw practically hit the floor, his mind spinning. He opened his mouth to respond, but all that came out was a faint squeak of disbelief.
Hoseok's mother, however, didn't miss a beat. She chuckled, slapping Hoseok on the back. "Oh, Hoseok would be happy to help!"
Hoseok whipped around, "What? No, I-" His mother clamped a hand over his mouth, effectively silencing him, while his father angled his body to shield the scene from Jinseok's view.
Hoseok's father smiled casually, "So, Mr. Kim... would there be any, ah, compensation for something like this?"
Jinseok nodded, a sly smile on his face. "Absolutely. You'll be handsomely rewarded."
Hoseok struggled behind them, eventually breaking free, gasping for breath. He glared daggers at his mother, who gave him a pointed look, whispering fiercely, "Don't you dare mess this up."
Ignoring his mother's death glare, Hoseok's father turned back to Jinseok, barely containing his glee. "And... Hoseok would inherit the entire estate after?"
Jinseok nodded, causing Hoseok's parents' faces to light up with unrestrained excitement. Jinseok gave a polite smile, adding, "But only if Hoseok agrees, of course. Then you're free to name your price."
Jinseok turned back to Hoseok with a thoughtful expression. "Just one question-Hoseok, are you gay?"
Before Hoseok could respond, his mother jumped in, standing up proudly. "Oh, he's very gay!" she announced. "He's been gay since birth. Not even a little straight."
"MOM!" Hoseok's face was scarlet, and he shot her an incredulous look.
His father gave him a stern glance, a silent warning in his eyes that practically screamed don't mess this up. Hoseok glared back with an are you serious? expression, but his father only turned to Jinseok with a warm smile.
"Hoseok will gladly accept the proposal," he said, giving his son a tight smile. "Right?"
Hoseok's mother dug her fingers into his thigh, hissing through gritted teeth, "If you don't agree, I swear you'll receive the beating of your life."
Hoseok swallowed, feeling thoroughly defeated. He glanced at Jinseok, then sighed deeply. "Yes," he said in a strained voice, "I'd... love that."
Jinseok's face brightened, and he rose from the couch, nodding in satisfaction. "Wonderful. Then, let's head to the hospital tomorrow to see if Hoseok is among those who can conceive."
Hoseok bit his lip, looking down as he nodded, desperately trying to hold back tears. This was what his life had become.
This chapter made me laugh and I don't know why.
This man is so pulchritudinous, and for what?
