"Brooke," The blonde haired lady ran out her name as she taunted the frightened girl. "Come out and play."

Brooke's grip on the kitchen knife grew tighter after every footstep her attacker took. Her palms began to sweat and her breathing hitched when the movement came to a stop. Hidden in the darkness of the pantry, Brooke could make out the woman's shadow and it froze in front of her. The white 1 and ½ inch wooden door stood in between the two, Brooke could picture the woman smirking down at her through the door. She didn't know what would happen but Brooke would be damned if she let this lady get to her.

"Your breathing is racing Brooke, you may want to get checked for that. I'm terribly sorry that things have to end like this, but your family owes me."

"Big time." The blonde woman snarled before swinging the door open.

From Brooke's standing position she quickly plunged the knife into the lady's shoulder then pushed her to the tiled floor. Brooke kept her feet moving to the door, but she definitely began to feel the weakness in her legs caused by the bruising a few nights ago. By the time she got halfway to the front door, the lady had thrown the knife to the floor and was already going after her.

Come on Brooke, she told herself, you gotta make it. She fumbled with the lock on the doorknob but as soon as the door had opened Brooke ran out - only to get yanked by the hem of her shirt then thrown back into the house. Not having the strength to get back on her feet, Brooke began to crawl backwards on the ground as the woman came closer and closer to her.

"Don't. Touch. Her." Brooke whipped her head around instantly to see him standing at the bottom of the staircase His voice had been threatening but for once it hadn't been towards her. She smiled with relief and tried to stand up but Kate took her by the throat and held her close with the bloody knife pressed against her neck.

"What are you gonna do about it, Sourwolf?" Kate taunted him.

"I'll tell Chris." He replied.

"And why should that scare me?" She fired back.

"You do remember what happens to a hunter who breaks the code, right." Derek stated. Brooke started to feel dizzy at this point from low supply of oxygen, Kate tightened her grip. She became so desperate that Brooke clawed at her hand, which only made Kate furious enough to nick her neck with the blade.

"You win this time. But remember Brooke, Sourwolf won't always be around to protect you." Kate said before dropping Brooke onto the kitchen floor. Immediately her hands go to her throat as she gasped for air. Kate gracefully walked towards the front door, her blonde curls bouncing with each step. Brooke really wanted Derek to rip her to pieces but she knew she could never ask him for anything after what she'd done.

As soon as the door had shut Derek rushed to Brooke's side, tilting her head to check the cut. His facial expression told her that it would be fine and that it was just a small scratch. Tears began to flow down her cheeks one by one as the older, dark haired boy held her in the middle of the kitchen. He stayed silent, watching her, as she cried in his arms thinking about how he had never seen this side of her. Then again, she didn't know the other sides of him either.

"Are you going to be okay?" Derek spoke, she nodded cautiously.

"Yeah I, I'm okay. But Derek. . . ." Brooke cringed thinking about what she'd heard coming from upstairs before she hid in the pantry.

"What? What is it?" He questioned seeing how hesitant she looked.

"She killed my parents."
