Ch 18

Rocky Mara gya!  Rocky is dead Shetty exclaimed with joy.. as he hanged up the telephone.

'Bara hath Marne gya tha, lekin ab Shar rhi hogi uska sharir'
'Had gone to hit the big hand, but now his body might be rotting somewhere' 

'Kya chacha bola tha na Rocky yeha sirf bakriyo ke bich sher Banta tha, chala gya na.. bechara sahi kehte haan log  laach buri Bala haan Kher, Bhagwan uski aatma ko Shanti de'

'Didn't  I say chacha that Rocky would only become a lion among goats? He is gone, poor guy, it is right that people say that a greed is bad. Well, may his soul rest in peace' .shetty said putting on his shades

2 years past since Rocky left to complete his work, but still there was no trace of him.. it tensed Chacha as well as Reena. But as the sun rose today in Bombay a news wildspread like fire, Rocky is no more.
As soon as chacha heard it he himself wanted to confirm as he knew Rocky he wasn't that dumb or weak.. Reena must have also heard the news..  chacha hurriedly left for their house.

The first thing Chacha saw was the  people gathering infront and reena from a distance it felt like they were arguing.

'Arrey secretary sahab isse bhi nikal fakiye, Uss gunde se toh picha chuta humara colony badnaam ho Rakhi thi. Uski wajah se accha hua mar gya.'

'Arrey Secretary, get over this girl too, we have had enough with that goon.Our colony had become infamous beacause of him It's good that he died .' A woman from the gathering said

'Ayee! Please mind your words also the person whom are talking about. It was only because of that Goon that you're still able to apply the vermillion and the Mangalsutra if he hadn't helped your husband that night. And why the hell will I leave this place I am paying the rent as much as you people are paying so why this injustice to me.?' Reena said with a louder voice.

'JUST look at her, who would believe her husband died instead mourning about his death there she stands arguing with us' some other woman kept whispering about her.

'Please don't bother me, I didn't even wanted anything from you people. Just let me live' reena said almost folding her hand infront of them.

'That's why women shouldn't be educated.. they think themselves as queen when there not even worthy of a maid' a man said glaring Reena.

'Atleast I can take a stand for myself but what about your daughter.. oh sorry your daughter just ended her life right? If you could teach her to take stand for herself then she would be alive today..' reena never wanted to use such harsh words but today she wasn't able to control herself just can't.. specially after what she heard. The people of the colony wanted to throw her out as soon as they heard the news of Rocky's death. Today she understood the meaning of double standards.. Rocky helped them in every way possible.

'Yeh yaha hi rahegi, agli baar kisi ne kuch bhi bola na toh..' 

Chacha gave a warning glare to everyone who stood there, the gathering was cleared with the whispers..

Reena shut the door but couldn't hold it for long as she broke down against the door. Her sobs were just getting louder and louder. She just didn't wanted to believe it. How dare he?! How could he just leave her alone after giving her high hopes of a normal family..

Normal family? She choosed this life herself, she choosed all the sorrows in return of her freedom.. he gave the truth of his life but she.. maybe she thought she wouldn't get attached to him, but now she was tangled to him in a way where she doesn't want to free herself.

'Why? Is it always me? Hayy Narayana does the bonds break so easily which were tied infront of you.? ' She was feeling the same just like the day when her biological father left her in the fair to get balloons but never came back the feeling was exactly the same. She was feeling lost.

As the morning skips to night reena wakes up with a sudden movement on her arms.

'Reena beti, wake up' Madhavi tai pushed her a little. Reena sits when she saw her. Wiping the new tears which just appeared in her eyes with her pallu's end.

'I know.. but it is the trut-' Madhavi Tai tried to say. But was cut off by reena

'Madhavi Tai, please I don't want to talk about it and moreover I don't believe he is death. He will co..me'

'Reena why are you not understanding he is death, and death people doesn't come back'

'Why don't you just leave me alone.' Reena sniffed getting up from the floor and Tieing her hairs into a bun.

Rocky just couldn't think of anything else, the man whom he thought was going to hurdle in his path, actually saved him... not him exactly but his unborn child and his wife, he had faith on him that he will free them. Reena what came to his mind, he has not seen her in a while now. He didn't knew what day it was or what date it was. Vithal the old man was right. This place stands nowhere on the equator, no connection with lively world, once you're inside there's no going back.. work,work,work and die that's the system here. Rocky sat firmly in his Chawl barely covered with some old and dirty clothes.. his shift for the day ended. He took a handful of water and splashed on his face.

'Garuda has decided to offer humans to Kali Maa this Puja.' There were mere whispers as the people of KGF sat in around the fire.

'WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO?!'  Farmaan yelled loudly at the guards who just threw him.

'Farmaan shut up! Just shut up ' Fatima Amma said to Farmaan

'He won't do it again'

'He better doesn't'

'Why did answer them back? Do you also want to end up like your abba' treating his wounds she asked him. Rocky just kept staring at them he saw the same fire in Farmaan's eye which he had in his teenage years but got somewhat the right direction by his mother , his mother never treated him like this, and this was one of the reasons he grew up not fearing the death, if it were his mother she would probably scold him for not beating them up enough, even if they were lying half dead.. she was just different way too different.. she herself went through a lot of obstacles so she didn't wanted Rocky to be weak in this tough world. Remembering his mother his mind automatically went to Reena. What she must be doing now? Was she missing him? Is she worried about him?

Reena took trembling steps towards the cupboard, and took out the amulet she caressed it gently and the tears just didn't stop.. her heart knew he wasn't dead but somewhere in her mind she wasn't convinced. Why was it taking so long? Was he really.. no her mind just couldn't stop. What if he found a better woman for himself wherever he went for the work.
If he is alive then where is he?
