The darkness of the night enveloped the luxurious apartment, the only sound the soft hum of the air conditioner. Lisa and Jungkook slept in each other's arms, exhausted from the day's events. Hailey, nestled in her crib, suddenly stirred.
The wind howled and she whimpered softly, she stirred seemingly feeling uncomfortable
At first, it was a gentle whimper, a soft mewling cry. Lisa and Jungkook slept through it, not hearing a thing, but as Hailey's distress grew, her wails intensified.
Lisa stirred, disoriented, and Jungkook's eyes fluttered open. "What's wrong?" he mumbled.
"Hailey," Lisa whispered, rushing to the crib.
Hailey's face scrunched up, her tiny body shaking with sobs. Lisa lifted her out of the crib and cradled her in her arms.
"What's wrong, baby girl?" Lisa cooed, trying to soothe her.
Jungkook joined them, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Maybe she's hungry?"
Lisa tried feeding her but she didn't accept, just turning her head to make sure the nipple doesn't touch her mouth.
Lisa checked Hailey's diaper. "No, it's clean."
Hailey's cries escalated, piercing the night air. Lisa and Jungkook exchanged worried glances.
"Try burping her," Jungkook suggested.
Lisa gently patted Hailey's back, but the crying persisted.
"Okay, little one, let's try a pacifier," Jungkook said, offering Hailey the soothing aid.
Hailey rejected it, her tiny hands swatting at the pacifier.
Lisa and Jungkook took turns rocking Hailey, singing lullabies, and walking the room, but she wouldn't calm down.
"This is killing me," Lisa whispered, frustration etched on her face.
Jungkook wrapped his arms around Lisa and Hailey. "We'll figure it out together."
As the night wore on, Hailey's cries only intensified. Lisa and Jungkook's exhaustion deepened.
"Maybe we should try a warm bath?" Jungkook suggested.
Lisa nodded, desperation creeping in.
The bath helped momentarily, but as soon as they laid Hailey back in her crib, the wails resumed.
Lisa and Jungkook exchanged defeated glances.
"What are we doing wrong?" Lisa asked, tears welling up.
Jungkook pulled her close. "We're not doing anything wrong. She's just a baby. We'll get through this."
"I'm going to call Unnie, I really need her," Lisa said picking up her phone from the nightstand and calling Jisoo.
"Argh!, Lisa!, it's 2 in the morning!, for all things holy what do you want?!" Jisoo answered frustrated.
She became on high alert hearing wailing sounds in the background. "What's wrong with Hailey?" She asked getting out of bed making sure not to wake Jin.
"I don't know." Lisa chocked a sob "Lisa calm down, Why's she crying?" Jisoo asked again placing a pillow in Jin's arms when his brows furrowed.
"I don't know, I've tried burping her, feeding her, even the pacifier but nothing's working." Lisa sat at the side of the bed frustrated.
"Have you checked her diaper?" Jisoo asked making her way to Jirose's room "Yes, it's squeaky clean, I don't know what I'm doing wrong." Lisa said frustrated.
Jisoo gently knocked on the door "You're doing nothing wrong, Okay?, what else did you try?" Jisoo asked about to knock again when the door was opened by a half asleep Jimin.
"Where's Chae?" Jimin pointed into the room showing Chaeyoung who was sleeping, "Can you wake her up, I need her." Jimin nodded before shutting the door in Jisoo's face "Rude!" Jisoo huffed.
"I gave her a warm bath, she stopped for a while but when we placed her in the crib she just continued, I'm drained." Jisoo giggled softly making Lisa's eyebrows furrow
"It's okay, I get you, we've all been through that stage." The door was once again opened with Chaeyoung standing behind it.
"We're going to Lisa's house." Jisoo pulled Chaeyoung's arm making her whine "But my bed!"
Now they were making their way to Jennie's room, Chaeyoung knocked on the door while Jisoo went to Jieun's room.
The door was opened by a shirtless Taehyung, who was startled to see Chaeyoung in that state, messy hair, drool at the corners of her mouth and half opened eyes.
Chaeyoung merely glanced at him before looking into the room seeing Jennie sitting on the bed using her phone, blanket pulled to her chest,
Chaeyoung was way too sleepy to even realize that they were currently having some fun, "Unnie!" Chaeyoung whined "Get up, we're going to Lisa's place!" Chaeyoung declared and walked away like she was drunk.
Jennie tilted her head and smiled, "You have to wait till I get back then." Taehyung pouted but still nodded passing her clothes she could wear.
By the time Jennie came to Jisoo's car, Chaeyoung was already sleeping and Jieun was close to sleeping.
Jennie volunteered to drive which Jisoo agreed to, With that the only two people in the right state of mind drove around the city and into a secluded area
Jisoo got out of the car first and moved to Jieun's side gently tapping her on her shoulder which caused Jieun to Jump, "I'm awake, I'm awake!"
"Yh, I know," Jennie rolled her eyes sarcastically, before tapping Chaeyoung repeatedly "Leave me alone." She whined but jumped when Jennie yelled in her ear.
"Unnie, that's not fair." Chaeyoung pouted
They walked to the door and rang the door bell, not two seconds later Lisa abruptly opened the door, "Unnie!" Lisa jumped into Jieun arms who tiredly wrapped her arms around her back.
With the four experienced ladies help, Hailey's cries finally subsided, replaced by exhausted snuffles.
When she was finally deeply asleep, the ladies went to the guest room for a well deserved nap.
Lisa and Jungkook collapsed onto the couch,
"We survived," Jungkook whispered.
Lisa smiled weakly. "Barely."
Their eyes met, and they shared a weary laugh.
"Parenting 101," Jungkook chuckled.
Lisa nodded. "We're learning."
