"The Midnight Surrender"

"Where the night hides secrets, love reveals truths."

Lying on my bed, surrounded by the familiar comforts of my dorm room, my mind was a whirlpool of worry and frustration. The soft glow of the setting sun cast a golden hue on the walls, illuminating the neatly arranged books and clothes that seemed to hold no interest for me this evening. Outside, the quiet darkness enveloped the building, a stark contrast to the turmoil brewing within me.

"Where is she?" I whispered to myself, my voice barely audible over the hum of the air conditioner. My eyes scanned the room, searching for answers that refused to materialize. Utahime's silence was deafening, and the sporadic messages she sent only fueled my anxiety.

I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. Utahime's last text, "I'm fine. Don't worry," echoed in my mind, but I knew better. Something was off. Her words seemed hollow, lacking the warmth and reassurance I was accustomed to.

My gaze drifted to the phone lying on the bedside table, its screen glowing softly in the darkness. My fingers twitched, tempted to call Utahime again, but I hesitated. What was the point? The calls went unanswered, and the messages were met with silence.

The dorm room, usually my sanctuary, now felt suffocating, its walls closing in on me. I tossed and turned, my thoughts racing with possibilities. What if Utahime was in danger? What if she was hiding something? The questions swirled in my mind like a vortex, refusing to let me rest.

I threw off the covers and swung my legs over the side of the bed, my feet dangling in the air. "Utahime, what are you doing?" I asked aloud, my voice laced with desperation. The silence was maddening, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being kept in the dark.

My eyes scanned the room again, searching for a distraction, but even my beloved books and mementos seemed dull and uninteresting. The usually calming scent of old pages and fresh laundry couldn't soothe my frazzled nerves.

As the darkness outside seemed to seep into my room, I felt lost and alone. Where was Utahime? And why wasn't she reaching out? There was a sudden knock on the door.

Y/n's POV

As I opened the door, Yuji's bright smile lit up the dimly lit hallway, and my heart skipped a beat. His energetic demeanor was contagious, and for a fleeting moment, Utahime's silence was forgotten. My eyes sparkled with surprise and delight, and I felt a flutter in my chest.

Yuji's concern was palpable as he asked, "Hey, what's up? You looked worried." His brow furrowed, and his eyes locked onto mine, filled with empathy. My expression softened, and I stepped aside, inviting him in.
