As Y/N burst into the infirmary, tears streaming down her face, the door swung open with a soft creak. She was met with a sight that made her heart sink, her eyes widening in horror. Yuji lay on the bed, his chest exposed, and Leri Shoko poised to examine him. Satoru's words cut through the air, his tone grave. "Sukuna ripped his heart out." The statement hung like a dark cloud, casting a pall of despair over the room.
Y/N felt like she'd been punched in the gut, her breath escaping in a sharp gasp. She stumbled forward, her legs trembling beneath her. "It's my fault," she blurted, her voice shaking, tears streaming down her face. "I knew something was off. The higher-ups knew it was a special grade curse. They wanted him dead." The words spilt from her lips like a confession, her guilt and anguish palpable.
Satoru's hand clenched into a fist, his anger barely contained. His eyes blazed with determination, his jaw set. "I'll take care of them," he growled, turning to leave. Y/N grabbed his arm, desperation creeping into her voice. "Wait, where are you going?" Her grip on his arm tightened, her eyes pleading.
Satoru's gaze locked onto hers, his eyes flashing with determination. "To make them pay," he replied, his tone resolute. Just then, Yuji stirred, sitting up with a groan. The room fell silent, shock etched on every face. "My head hurts..." he murmured, his voice laced with confusion. Sukuna had brought him back to live but with a deal.
The tension in the room shifted, replaced by a mix of relief and amusement. Satoru's expression transformed into a warm smile. "Welcome back, Yuji!" he exclaimed, high-fiving Yuji, who was still disoriented. Y/N covered her eyes, mortified. Yuji was completely naked, the blanket slipping off his shoulders. When he realized, he hastily pulled the blanket around himself, his cheeks burning red.
"I'll wait outside until you're... decent," Y/N stammered, trying to hide her own blush. Her face felt like it was on fire, her heart racing with embarrassment. Yuji nodded, still looking dazed. Satoru and Shoko chuckled, while Ijichi remained frozen in shock and fear.
As Y/N stepped outside, the door creaked shut behind her. She leaned against the wall, her thoughts swirling. Her heart still racing, she acknowledged the truth to herself: she had feelings for Yuji. Deep, genuine feelings that went beyond friendship. Relief washed over her, knowing he was alive. She couldn't imagine losing him. The thought sent a shiver down her spine.
But for now, this secret was hers alone. She wouldn't burden him or anyone else with her emotions. Not yet. Taking a deep breath, she composed herself, preparing to face whatever lay ahead. Yuji's recovery was paramount, and she would ensure he received the care and protection he needed.
As Y/N burst into the room, her heart racing with emotion, the door swung open with a soft creak. Her eyes locked onto Yuji, and without hesitation, she slapped him across the face. The sound echoed through the shocked silence, a stark contrast to the warmth of the infirmary. Everyone's eyes widened in surprise, but Y/N didn't care. Tears streaming down her face, she threw her arms around Yuji, holding him tight.
Her body trembled with sobs as she whispered, "How could you?" Her voice shook, laced with anguish. "How could you leave me like that?" Yuji's eyes widened, taken aback by her outburst. He gently tried to pry her off, concern etched on his face. "Hey, I'm okay. I'm here," he soothed, attempting to calm her down. But Y/N wouldn't let go.
