Risa Pov

Three days have passed since the tragedy happened and so do the truth that Ms. Tesoro admitted to me about the plans that Leny made with her. I haven't talked to Leny about it yet. I've also returned to the Senate and started planning how I will confess the truth to the entire country. As for Alice, she still hasn't woken up, and there hasn't been any update from the nurse I asked to keep me informed about her condition and whether she has regained consciousness.

'Kumusta na kaya siya ngayon?'

I still can't forget what happened on the day of her operation. It was traumatic and frightening, a memory I would never want to think about again.

Flashbacks...

After my conversation with Ms. Donya, a sense of unease lingered in the air. Just a few minutes later, I noticed a commotion as the nurses suddenly rushed out from the operating room. Their hurried movements caught my attention, and I felt my heart race. Four nurses were coming in and out, their expressions serious and focused, which only heightened my anxiety. When they returned, they were accompanied by three more doctors, all of whom looked equally concerned.

I couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong, and I could see that Ms. Sheila Guo was equally distressed too. She exchanged worried glances with her companions, and I could sense the tension at us rising.

When I lost control of my thoughts, I grabbed one of the nurses and urgently asked her, "Nurse, ano pong nangyayare sa loob?!" My voice trembled with a mix of anxiety and fear, making it hard for me to get the words out.

"The doctor found a threat on Ms. Alice's body," She replied, her face full of concern and hesitation.

"What do you mean by threat?" Ms. Sheila suddenly interfered, her voice almost whispered.

"Her leukemia is spreading." Those words hit us like a thunderbolt, shattering our world in an instant.

"What does it have to do with her operation?!" Cassy Ong yelled, a concern and disbelief etched on her face.

"The doctor found it necessary while removing the bullet because it poses a risk of infection which is lodged in a critical area, causing significant bleeding. That's why the patient's blood pressure plummets dangerously low."

The weight of the news pressed down on my chest, making it hard for me to breathe.

"Will you be able to save her?" Ms. Donya asked, her eyes are swollen and pale.

All of us, I guess...

"Surgeons will assess the situation carefully, considering both the immediate need to remove the bullet and the patient's underlying health condition. They may take extra precautions to minimize infection risk and ensure proper recovery...Please excuse me." After she said those words, she immediately dashed over to OR.

The hallway felt suffocating, filled with unspoken fears and questions that hung in the air like a thick fog.

'Please, God. Save her...Hindi ko kakayanin 'pag may mangyareng masama sa kanya.'

The atmosphere was thick with tension; each minute stretching on as we anxiously stood outside the OR. We were all silent, lost in our thoughts, praying fervently and clinging to the hope that the surgery would go well.
