I miss the taste of the sweet life,
I miss the conversation...
Maps by Maroon 5 blared in our cabin before dinner. Dinner was at 7, and it was currently 6:45, Marissa, Maya, and I are just waiting for the guys to come pick us up.
"Marissa," Maya knocked on the door of Marissa's bathroom, "You don't need to make your make-up perfect, it's dark out we will be eating by the fire tonight, Brody will barely be able to see you face."
Marissa opened up the door, "Like Marilyn Monroe said, perfection is beauty," she said as she walked out.
I look at her, "I think the quote you are referring to is, 'Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous, then absolutely boring."
"She's right you know," says a deep voice from behind me. Carter walks into our cabin, he's wearing a dark green seater and jeans, "Brody and Christian are on the steps waiting for you girls."
He looks at all of us, Maya is wearing grey leggings, a white tank-top, a light purple cardigan, with white flats. Marissa is wearing black leggings, a white 10 Tree sweater, and sneakers. Then there's me, I wear jeans, a plain grey pull over sweater, and my black high tops.
Carter puts his arm around Maya, "Come on, lets go."
We walk out of the cabin, Christian and Brody were both having a staring contest with each other, Marissa waves her hand in front of Brody's face, "Hey," he glares at her, then pulls her into his lap, "You made me lose," he was wearing a simple black long sleeve shirt and jeans.
Christian looks at me, he's wearing a red plaid long sleeve, with jeans, he smiles, then looks back at everyone else, "We should get going, we are eating outside tonight, then going to the fire."
"Yes, sir," Carter and Brody mock solute.
"That's more like it," Christian smirks.
"Let's just go, before Christians ego gets bigger then his head," I say.
"Hey," he says and puts his arm around me, "My ego is already bigger then my head," he winks at me.
"Whatever, lets go," we start walking, but I don't shrug Christians arm off of my shoulders.
We sit at our table, we eat, laugh, but then a short, petite figure walks up to our table.
"Losers," she nods at at us," and Chr-"
"You know," I cut her off, "Its not healthy to call you and your friends losers."
My table laughs, while she struggles to to find a comeback.
She squeals, stops one of her feet to the ground, the stops off.
"Hey," Christian whispers to me, "You want to go for a walk before the camp fire?"
"Yeah, sure," we stand and walk towards the trees.
He walks toward a thick tree, "Come here."
"Why?" I ask as I walk towards him.
"I'll give you a boost up," his blue eyes twinkle with a look I can't read.
"You want me," I look up, "to climb that."
"I'll be right behind you," I intwines his fingers together, I hesitate to put my foot in in his hands, but in the end, I find myself being pushed up to a tall branch, "I am so going to regret this," I mutter, he chuckles softly.
I sit on a tall, sturdy branch, I wait for him to reach the branch.
He sits close to me, and puts his arms around me, "I won't let you fall," he whispers in my ear.
I shiver from his hot breath on my neck, he lightly chuckles.
"Let's play a game," he says out if the blue.
"What kind of game?" I take my head off of his shoulder, and look into his eyes.
"20 questions," he says, "I'll go first, what is your favourite colour?"
"Blue, what's yours?" I look at him.
"Green, your turn," he says grabbing my hand.
"Favourite animal?" I say.
"Dogs, you?" He says playing with my palm.
"Horses," I look down and his eyes snap up to look at me, "I ride."
He nods, "ok, my turn, what's your best friends name?"
"Tarren, you?" I say lookin back at him.
"Cater and Brody, because we live in the same street," he says smiling.
"Lucky you, how old are you?" I ask.
"18, but I'm going back to school because I failed grade 9, you?" He squeezes my hand.
"17," I say.
"Where do you live?"
"I live in Hudson, near Calgary," I say, he looks shocked for a minute but then he recovers, but I feel like we got closer ,physically, in the last five minutes.
"I live in Calgary," he says looking down, "but Brody, Carter, Marissa, and Maya are moving to a small town near Calgary."
I nod, still looking down, when I look back up, he's looking me with the same expression as in his eyes as the the other day at the lake, I lean my head to one way, looking at him, "Don't look at my like that."
"I look at you like that because I think you are beautiful," he leans closer, and presses his lips to mine, it takes me a minute to respond, but I do, his lips are soft, he pulls me waist closer to him, while I sneak my arms around his neck.
When we pull away, we are both breathless, "I think..." I start, "I like you."
"Well," he puts his forehead on mine, "I know I like you."
We hear cheering in the distance, Christian sighs, "We better get to the fire before anyone realizes we are gone other than our friends."
"Ok," I say, "But you are gonna have to help me down."
"Ok," he nods, "But first will you be my girlfriend?"
I was stunned, "I-I," I stamper, "ya sure, ok."
He smiles and kisses me lightly again, then he jumps down, "Jump I'll catch you."
"Are you crazy, it's like 10 feet," I state.
"Trust me," those two words get my attention.
"One," he says.
"Two," I say.
"Three."
The second he says three I jump, he catches me bridal style, "Told you, you can trust me."
"Whatever," I say as he puts me down, "Lets go."
Hand in hand we walk to the campfire.
