'Shit, I know nothing about this topic. I'm pretty sure Miss never told us who the leader of the Suffragettes was!'
"Try Emily Pankhurst- I'm pretty sure that's right. Milly Fawcett was the leader of the opposing party, the Suffragists."
'Oh my God, thanks so much Lukey. I know fuck all about History.'
"Start paying attention in class more, dork."
'I am not a dork!'
"Yes you are Mikey, look in the mirror."
'Not a dork.'
"Whatever you say."

About a month after the fight in the alleyway, it became a recent occurrence, for the two boys to bicker playfully, help out with assignments and tests, and also be there for general support. It reassured each boy individually to know that they had someone that really did care not that far away. Michael was always there for Luke- when he was nervous and shy while meeting new people, when he felt lonely, but mostly when he was ready to give up. Michael had been great while Luke was forced to lap the school three times for some stupid P.E. lesson, and honestly, without Michael cheering him on, Luke thought that he would have collapsed and given up.

It wasn't just one way either. Michael found out Luke had a mine of useless information for a brain very early on, and used it to his advantage. It was very helpful during surprise exams- or exams in general- as Luke would often know the answer and Michael became less stressed at that time. Despite being the badass kid, Michael still wanted to do well in his subjects to make his parents proud, and was actually really bright. He was able to pull pretty good grades around without ever trying in the lessons, overall making the teachers even more annoyed. He had actually started paying attention more, because maybe or maybe not Luke had threatened to never talk to him again if he kept daydreaming in class. And maybe or maybe not Michael couldn't risk that for anything. Michael trusted Luke to keep him going in the right direction.

Luke was especially great at helping Michael keep on the straight and narrow- rather early on Luke figured the older boy did not think very rationally when he became angry, which was often because he was not gifted with a lot of patience. Luke, on the other hand, had bucketfuls of the stuff, which became increasingly apparent to the blue haired boy, as the merciless teasing he did out of fondness for the younger lad didn't seem to bother him. Michael often thought that Luke was incredibly like Calum- they had a similar personality that didn't clash with his own, thankfully.

"Okay, I want to know... 5 facts about yourself."
'Luke, you have got to be shitting me. I have no personality.'
"Pfft, yeah right."
'I'm being serious!'
"Just get on with it!"
'I hate you.'
"No you don't."
'Yes, I really do Luke.'
"No you don't."
'Do you know that you are really annoying?'

It went on, for about fifteen minutes, before Michael- stubborn as he is- caved in. Even though he would never admit it to himself, Michael was a sucker for anything Luke did. Luke was such a genuine guy, he was easy to get along with and talk to. He wouldn't talk much, but anything he did say, had great value and impact, whatever that may be.

'Alright, alright, FINE! Um, okay...
1. I have bright blue hair that I dyed myself... (actually the colour of your eyes).'
"You are so cheesy."
'You love it.'
"Actually yes, I do."
'Smooth. 2. My full name is Michael Gordon Clifford.'
"Wait, Gordon?"
'Yes, what about it?'
"I did not imagine you as a Gordon. And Clifford? As in the big red dog?"
'I got that a lot when I was younger.'
"Ouch."
'Don't bring all the memories back.'
"Yikes. That bad?"
'Uh-huh. Primary school kids are vicious. 3. I'm bisexual. I came out to everyone I know ages ago. Except for you, I guess.'
There was no reply. It was like Luke had switched the 'Michael' part of his brain off. Or just ripped his brain out of his head, Michael thought.
