"Is there such a
thing as destiny?
A fate we can't change or
go against?"

Days later, Sun-Jae found himself back in front of the DVD rental store, the yellow umbrella tucked under his arm. He hesitated briefly before stepping up to the small can outside the shop, where Hye-Jin had told him to leave the umbrella.

With deliberate care, he placed the umbrella inside. His hand lingered on the handle for a moment as he glanced through the glass window of the store.

Inside, Hye-Jin sat at the counter. Her cheek was pressed against the palm of her hand, her dark lashes fluttering slightly as she slept. Scattered around her were schoolbooks, a notebook, and a half-empty cup of coffee, all signs of a late-night study session that had clearly overwhelmed her.

A small smile tugged at Sun-Jae's lips. She looked peaceful, her features softened in sleep, but he couldn't help but feel a pang of concern. How long had she been studying like this? he wondered.

Unable to resist, he stepped inside the store, the bell above the door jingling faintly. The warm air greeted him, carrying the faint smell of old DVDs and the ink from rental slips. He scanned the shelves, pretending to browse for a movie, but his eyes kept drifting back to the counter where Hye-Jin still dozed.

Her head began to tilt precariously, her elbow slipping slightly on the counter. Sun-Jae's heart jumped as he realized what was about to happen. Without thinking, he moved quickly, reaching the counter just as her head fell forward.

He extended his arm, resting it on the counter so her head landed softly against him instead of the hard surface. He froze, his breath catching in his throat as her hair brushed against his skin.

Still asleep, Hye-Jin shifted slightly, snuggling closer to his arm as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Sun-Jae's heart raced. She was so close, and he could feel the warmth of her breath against his sleeve.

Time seemed to slow, and Sun-Jae didn't dare move. His arm began to go numb, and he began to sweat, but he didn't care. He was too caught up in the moment, too captivated by the soft, sleepy expression on her face.

The bell above the door jingled again, breaking the spell. A customer had entered the store, and the noise stirred Hye-Jin awake. She blinked groggily, lifting her head and stretching slightly.

"Hello," the customer greeted, scanning the shelves.

"Welcome!" Hye-Jin replied automatically, her voice cheerful despite her obvious drowsiness. She glanced around and spotted Sun-Jae standing nearby, his eyes darting away as he pretended to browse.
