A/N: Incredibly sorry this took so long. It's a little bit longer to make up for it. Right now, the school year is like 2 days to ending so hopefully I can update more.

Thank you guys for 1K. I never thought it would be possible. ❤️❤️

The following part written in italics is about the past.

Another day where the clouds covered about half the sky, the perfect ratio of sunlight and shade. Another day walking down the neighborhood alone, accompanied only by the leaves rustling past her feet and the occasional bird swooping past.

Just another day.

She wished she could have her sons next to her, taking away the loneliness, but she understood both of them were young and had busy lives, no time to stay with an elderly woman who often didn't do much during the day other than house work.

She continued her walk, nothing weird, nothing unusual. But what did catch her eye was the little boy waddling towards the road, right into the path of a speeding vehicle. And since no one seemed to be with the boy, Jiyoon quickly started running from the opposite side of the road towards the boy.

She knew it was risky and how easily both of them could be killed, but it was worth a try to at least save one life, one with more hope in the future and a lot more to live for.

At the last second, she put all her focus on wrapping her entire body around the little boy, the sound of beeping just a buzzing distraction at the back of her mind. The impact was painful, like expected, but the pain was all blurred out by the boy who was frozen in her arms.

After what felt like a lifetime, they finally hit the ground hard, skidding across the rough concrete. Even then, Jiyoon kept a death grip on the boy who was slowly beginning to cry. A scream followed and several footsteps got closer.

"Quick! Call an ambulance!"

"Hey! Are you alright? Is the kid alright?"

Jiyoon breathed heavily, loosening her grip slightly to look at the boy in her arms who was crying loudly. Thankfully, he looked mostly okay with nothing more than a few scratches and possibly bruises.

"Hey, ma'am, can you hear me?"

Barely, she barely heard the police officer that had showed up. But his voice sounded familiar.

The same voice that had told her the love of her life was dead.
