Is it just me or are there others who are always like this too; You open your laptop and do various shit you really like. You tell yourself you won’t go on too long and when you look at the clock, BAM AN ETERNITY HAS PASSED. Please tell me I’m not alone. It was already 6:30 when I realized I’ve been on the internet for 5 hours without knowing it. I decided to eat some noodles because well sometimes, Chinese food is delicious. As I was slurping my noodles, my phone started ringing.
“Hello? Who’s this?”
“Hey Veronica, it’s me, Finn.”
“Hey..” Awkward pause, “why’d ya call?”
“Just wondering, you are coming to the dorm party later, right?”
“Um… No.”
“Please? You can hang with us and some of the boys have girlfriends so you can hang with them.”
“Parties are not my thing.”
“Please, Veronica?”
“Ugh…” awkward pause, “Errm..”
“Please?”
“Dammit. Fine.”
Is this for real? I just let Finn talk me into coming to a party. Should I trust him now? Maybe I’ll give him more time, but you know, it’s kind of nice having someone talk you into a party and will occasionally be the first friend you’ll have.
I don’t want to go, but I don’t want to disappoint Finn, so I’ll just have to go, don’t I? I took a bath and afterwards got into some jeans, a stylish, but loose shirt, into my vans, fixed my hair into a bun and put light make up on and went downstairs. Finn told me the party’s at the event hall which is like a block away from the dorm buildings. By the looks of it, I think everyone’s at the party already.
As I got there, to my disappointment, there was only a big door for an entrance. I don’t like big doors and entrances ‘cause it’s like there’s gonna be a burst of glitters and confetti’s behind you the moment you open the door and walk in.
But anyways, I went inside and I was shocked and I felt like a loser. I am the only one wearing something casual. Everyone was wearing night-club outfits. Like cocktail dresses or something. Nobody told me, fuck. I look like I’m going for a trip to the shopping center and everyone else is a rich kid who has big name products on. Oh, God. Kill me now.
Before I can even go out the door, someone grabbed my arm and when I look to see who it was, it’s Kelvic. I am screwed.
“Hey.” He said flashing me a smile.
“Hey Kelvic, nice outfit.” No but seriously, he looks so amazing and hot. Just look at those jeans and that button up shirt. He looks like a real Tumblr Boy. Well he is a Tumblr Boy so what should I expect, right?
“I’m not sure I could say the same?” he said as he wore his glasses and let out a cheeky laugh.
“Ha. Ha.” I faked my laugh with a little bit of annoyance in the tone of my voice.
“Hey, I’m just teasing, love. You look really nice. Different is cool.”
“Really? Thanks. I kind of forgot that this was a party and not just some trip to the shopping center.”
Kelvic let out a laugh and it’s pretty cute. “You want some drinks?”
“Sure.” I nodded and he went on.
I found an awesome place to rest my arse and I can’t believe Finn’s not here. I mean maybe he is, but where? He’s the only reason why I decided to come here and now he’s not here and I’m hanging out with Kelvic. Nice. I checked my phone and I got a message from Finn.
“Where r u??”
“I’m near the door.” I replied. After about 15 seconds, he replied back, “I’ll go get u.”
Me and Kelvic got along pretty good, I guess? We were talking about stuff from Tumblr and I’m happy we can connect with each other, but like I’ve said before, I won’t let people gain my trust that easily again.
“There you are Veronica!” He sounded very excited at first then he noticed what I was wearing and there was an obvious change in his voice, “and you’re wearing that. Nice.”
“Thank you for noticing my awesome outfit, Finn.” There was an awkward silence, and then, “Oh, this is Kelvic.”
“Yeah, I know him. Hey Kelvic,”
“Hey Finn.”
“Ugh, Veronica can we go now? They’re sort of waiting for us.”
“Sure. Umm, bye Kelvic.” I said making that, “Sorry, I have to go now” face.
“Bye Veronica, see ya in IPB meeting.” I flashed him a smile and went with Finn to his group.
I want to hang-out with Kelvic but of course, I have to go with Finn, considering the fact that well, he invited me and I guess he is my acquaintance now? But at the same time, I want to hang with Kelvic. We connected because of our interests and Tumblr. And I absolutely feel sorry and horrible for leaving him hanging there.
There’s a big round table with the guys and 3 other girls whom I have no idea who were, were there. They all greeted me and I found out that those girls were Oli, Jack and Gabe’s girlfriends. Alan and Finn are both single. No surprise about Alan, but Finn though. What girl wouldn’t want him, right? I mean it could also be Finn’s fault. His standards could be high. And by high, I mean so high he wouldn’t even bother to try anymore.
“Alan’s single too?” I whispered to Finn.
“Apparently, yes.” He replied, “He told me, some girls are shit and he doesn’t even wanna try anymore. He’ll get a girl once the girl likes him.”
“Well, that girl’s gonna be lucky, isn’t she?”
Finn let out a chuckle and said, “Pretty much.”
The guys greeted me and the girls’ names were Alex (Jack’s), Lea (Gabe’s) and Katy (Oliver’s). They were all very pretty and they look nice, but you know how people are, so yeah. There is more than what meets the eye. Everyone’s socializing, but me and Alan were there, drinking and constantly nodding at each other. I only know a little bit about socializing when it’s just me and that person. Not in a group, like this. They were all laughing and chatting and Alan got really bored so he stood up and he asked me if I want to come with him outside and offered me his hand, in which I took and went outside with him.
“It’s pretty dark” I muttered.
Alan laughed so hard. It wasn’t a joke. I don’t get why he was laughing.
“What’s so funny?” I asked like a little child.
“What you just said was beyond stupid.”
“Really Alan? Thanks.” I got really mad so I kicked off the bench and began to walk away. I thought he’s not that mean, and then this.
“Veronica wait,” Alan said as he stood up, “I’m sorry I’m so mean. And I’m sorry I offended you.” I rolled my eyes and waited for him to say more.
“I’m not really the most talented person is socializing.”
“As am I, Alan. It’s okay, I forgive you.”
“Thanks, so, ugh, wanna sit down?”
I sat next to him and had quite a chat about the joys of being in the group. They were pretty fun by his stories and even though he looks like he’s not happy, he actually is.
