I reached for my phone and on the screen came flashing, 1 new message. I opened it and it was from Kelvic, “Good Morning, Veronica. Meeting later, don’t forget.” Oh shit, I haven’t got that selfie yet. I prepared myself for today, I don’t know, but I have a feeling it will be pretty dull.
I took a selfie, edited it on my mac and printed it out, it’s pretty awesome, I guess. A black and white image plus some red lips will always be a classic piece of art. Well, from my perspective, of course.
It as already 1 and the meeting might already be starting and me being me, will be late, yeap. I rush by people on the campus grounds with a satchel, wearing a knee-length dress and a pair of Chucks. Did I mention my hair is in a really messy bun? No? well it is. I am a hot-arse mess right now.
I went inside the social media hall and to room 302. There it was plastered on top of the door, “IPB”. I went inside and they were sitting in a circle, Kelvic saw me and hugged me and whispered, “got some good sleep last night?” I just chuckled and sat next to him.
I scanned the room familiarizing myself with these faces because for the next year or 4, I’m gonna work with them and as much as possible I don’t wanna be an arsehole so I’ll try to be nice.
“So hey everyone, I’m Kelvic. I’m the club president and I guess, I’ll start the meeting.” They all nodded and I smiled. “I trust everyone brought their artistic-selfie.” Kelvic said as he got his picture. He showed it to us and wow it looked amazing. It has a subtle color effect and a very beautiful light leak. His face was magnificent in the picture and smoke was coming out of his mouth.
He explained that the reason he has subtle colors on was the he doesn’t want to live a life perfectly and he also said he’s pretty shy. That’s why. The light leaks represent the negative things in life, it’s not supposed to be there, but it’s there, completing the picture and enhancing it. While the smoke just represents negativity leaving your life.
On the scale of one to ten, I’ll give him an 8. It’s absolutely magnificent and Kelvic is just beautiful. It’s my turn now and I explained that I think black and white are just classical beautiful pieces and red lips bring out the color missing in a black and white image.
“I think you’re beautiful.” Kelvic said.
“Thank you.”
The others went on and showed us their pieces. All of them were beautiful and so far, there are only 7 photo-geeks in IPB. That actually made Kelvic happy. To be honest, I don’t get why we have to take a picture of our self.
I got to know everyone; well I remembered their names and faces. There’s an Asian named Kevin, a hippie named Katy, a blonde guy, Troye, a goth, Samantha and well forgive me for being a bit judgmental but, a mean looking girl named Erin.
We said our goodbyes and agreed to have another meeting on the first day of class. As I was going out the room, Kelvic tapped my shoulder and when I turned, he smiled at me and asked, “Where ya heading to for lunch?”
“I’ll probs go to the mall, I need to buy a new camera. Wanna come?” his face lit up and he said yes. We’re gonna use my car so we have to walk for 3 blocks.
“What’s your car like?”
I smirked and said, “You’ll see. Oh wait. I’ll get my car keys.”
I pressed the button and the car clicked, Kelvic turned and saw my Austin flashing it’s lights. “Woah, cool car.”
“Yeah. Mum got this for me on my 16th birthday. Now get in, loser. We’re going shopping.” I said as I opened my door and slid in.
If you don’t know what movie that was from…. Well, I’m sorry.
Kelvic was looking around my car and I can’t help but ask why.
“Hey, stop raping my Austin! What are you searching for?”
“Albums.”
I reached for the glove compartment and handed him my beloved albums. He looked at them and I think he only knew 1D and Ed Sheeran.
“What would you recommend?”
“Collide with the Sky by Pierce The Veil.”
He put the CD into the player and Bulls in the Bronx blasted through the speakers. Like any other Brit lad, he was shocked.
“You actually like this, yeah?”
“Post Hardcore? I love it. Their lyrics,” I went silent for a moment and continued, “means a lot to me.” I instantly wanna open up to him how Post Hardcore/Metalcore saved my life for more than a hundred times, but I figured it’s too soon. Kelvic smiled and said, “You’re cool.” I just laughed and thanked him.
So we got lunch, bought my camera and decided to see a little bit of what London has to offer. We went to the tower of London, Big Ben and rode the London Eye.
Considering the fact that I finally had my own DSLR, Kelvic and I took pictures of us and of London. It’s already 3 pm so we headed back to the UNI. There was awkward silence between us in the car until he spoke up.
“You have awesome driving skills for a lady.”
“Thanks, I guess?” was that a compliment or an insult? “I learned to drive last summer in the Philippines.”
“The Philippines? Isn’t that in Asia?”
“Exactly. My uncle lives there now. He told my mum he would teach me and my mum agreed. The traffic there is bloody insane. It’s like 10 times worse than London, Jesus Christ.”
“Shut up.”
“In all honesty, but it’s amazing there. It’s beautiful.”
I parked my car in front of my dorm building and got out of the it. “Hey Kelvic wanna come inside?” I said motioning to the dormitory. “Sure, but you have to come by my dorm for dinner.”
“Do I have to?”
“Yeap.”
“Fine.”
We went inside and ate some ice cream. He said my dorm was beyond awesome and we watched my all time favorite movie, Mean Girls. Don’t judge me, I know you like this shit.
As Regina George said to Cady Heron, “Get in loser. We’re going shopping.” He looked at me and said, “Is that?” I chuckled quietly and replied, “yes.”
He was referring to earlier today when I told him to get into my Austin. I quoted Mean Girls because I can.
After watching Mean Girls, we then went to his dorm; which is Dorm Building A. Everyone was looking at me in a weird way and I can’t help but question why.
“Why are they all looking at me, like, well, that?” I whispered to him. “Oh, well, see, I had a lot of girlfriends last year, but I’ve changed.”
“Okay? Hey, erm….” Pause, ”I’m not your girlfriend, am I?”
“What? No.” awkward. He blushed and I think he actually said “not yet” under his breath. I don’t know.
