God, where is Finn? We’re supposed to listen to You Me at Six’s album Sinners Never Sleep, but unfortunately, I have no idea where he is. I checked my phone and there wasn’t any message from him. I’m just gonna go to his room, maybe he’s just busy.
I got to his room and when I opened the door, he was making out with Erin! “What the actual fuck!?” I shouted. They stopped and Erin let out a bitchy little laugh. Finn didn’t say anything, but he stood up.
“Well Finn? What did you thought her? Lip locking or inappropriate touching?
“Veronica, I..ugh..she.. pulled me in.”
“And you liked it, because you obviously didn’t pull out! God, Finn, we’re done!”
“Veronica, I’m sorry!” He said as he held both of my hands, to which I yanked them back, “No. Finn, didn’t you hear what I said? We are done. You may know continue.”
I ran away with my eyes flooding my face. I got inside the lift and as I rode down, these feelings are taking over me. God, what’s this? It’s like anger, hatred and vengeance. Holy crap.
As I stepped out of the lift, I saw Alan and he saw me too. He even attempted to give me a high five but I refused. He held me by my shoulders and asked, “Hey, what’s wrong? Why?” I just got out of his grip and ran directly to my dorm building.
I collapsed on the couch and just cried there with my feet tucked into my chest. I thought about cutting again. You know, self harm to ease the pain, but I don’t want to, I’m already 9 months clean. As I buried my head onto a pillow, the door opened behind my back and I shouted, “GOD, FINN, GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME!”
“It’s not Finn,” he said, “It’s Alan.”
“And Kelvic.”
They sat next to me and I just tucked my head onto Kelvic’s chest as Alan patted my back, “Stop, crying?” Alan said.
I lift my head off Kelvic’s chest and wiped my face, “Here’s some water.” Alan handed me the Dixie cup, then asked, “Mind telling us what happened?” I nodded.
“After the holidays, Finn told me that Erin needed a tutor for graphic design—“
“As in Erin from IPB?” Kelvic cut me off and I nodded. They exchanged a look and I carried on, “I told him that it’s okay. I mean he trusts me with my study sessions with you,” I nodded towards Kelvic, “and my late drinking nights with you.” I nodded towards Alan.
“So it’s fair enough, right? Then today we were supposed to listen to You Me at Six’s Sinners Never Sleep, but he didn’t show up, so I decided to drop by his dorm to check on him, but when I opened the door, god fucking damn it, he was making out with Erin.” I stopped as the tears began to form and fell like waterfalls on my cheeks.
Alan hugged me and I buried my head on his chest, “Veronica, see, umm, Erin.. she was..ugh, Finn’s ex.”
“Finn might have just done her a favor.” Kelvic added. “Veronica, Finn really loves you, but Erin, she’s a slut, she tried to kiss me, oh God.” Alan said.
“True that. Tried to give a blow last term.” Kelvic said, “but if I were you, don’t let Finn in that easy again, okay?” I nodded and forced a fake smile at them, their faces lit and smiled back at me.
“we know you’re no that happy yet—“
“Of course not! You bloody idiot!” I cut off Kelvic and they let out a laugh. “So, we brought you this.” Kelvic said as he took out a DVD, “Pitch Perfect. We know you like this shit.” He continued. “And I got this from your fridge.” Alan said as he took a bottle of wine and some Dixie cups from the kitchen.
“Booze?” Kelvic asked, “On campus? You can get in to so much trouble, both of you!” me and Alan laughed our arses off and I explained to Kelvic, “Kel, we do this all the time; when we’re stressed or when Alan feels like it. We won’t get in trouble, don’t worry.” I handed him the Dixie cup and he drank from it.
“Tastes good, doesn’t it?” Alan said as he took a gulp. “Here’s to me being single!” I proposed a toast. I watched the movie with my 2 BEST FRIENDS. I could’ve sworn they’re gay, but I realized, they’re doing it, because well, they care for me. And I am beyond thankful for that.
As the movie ended, Kelvic suggested that we should go for a ride around the city, maybe grab something to eat and blast some shit through the stereo. Like before, me and Alan looked at each other and nodded. As we went out the building, we forgot whose car we’re gonna use and since my Austin was already in front of us, we decided to take him in for a spin.
As I was entering the driver’s seat with key in hand, Alan grab my arm and carried me out, he also managed to get the key somehow. “Hey! My car, I’ll drive.” I said. He chuckled and entered the car.
“You’re upset, it’s either you ride shotgun or at the back, your choice.” Alan said. I decided to go for the back, but when I opened the door, Kelvic was already sitting there, “It’s best to ride shotgun when you’re upset, trust me.” He said. And I did. I got in and Alan asked where we wanted to go and I told him, “Can we just get to the freeway? Let’s go fast and blast shit through the speakers.” Alan nodded, let out a smirk and said, “That sounds great.” and changed gears.
I started the jam with my favorite song, King for a Day by Pierce the Veil.
“YOU TOLD ME THINK ABOUT IT, WELL I DID! NOW I DON’T WANT TO FEEL A THING ANYMORE, I’M TIRED OF BEGGING FOR THE THINGS THAT I WANT, I’M OVERSLEEPING LIKE A DOG ON THE FLOOR.” I sang… okay, screamed along.
“IMAGINE LIVING LIKE A KING SOMEDAY! A SINGLE NIGHT WITHOUT A GHOST IN THE WALLS! AND IF THE BASS SHAKES THE EARTH UNDERGROUND, WE’LL START A NEW REVOLUTION, NOW!” Kelvic followed my lead and when the bridge came, Alan screamed along. It’s nice to have friends who have great taste in music.
“Here’s an idea.” Alan blurted out, “How about we go to the beach?”
“The beach? That’s like a 3 hour drive.” Kelvic said.
“So? We have money and a car. Besides, it’s only,” he paused to check the time, “2 pm.”
“Yeah, we could arrive by five and you know, eat, have a little stroll and be home by twelve.” I said,
“See, Kelvic. Now, should we go or should we go?!”
“LET’S DO IT!” Kelvic and I shouted at the same time.
