Chapter 9 - Kelvic

“Veronica! Veronica, hey wake up!”

I looked up at Kelvic and he’s starting to get really pissed.

“I’m sorry, Kelvic..” I kept my phone away and began to do my work.

It’s been two days since Finn asked me out, but we didn’t go on a proper date yet. I mean what should I expect in two days, right? Besides, I’m too crammed up on school shit. I think..

Kelvic’s still in a bad mood so I decided to go up to him and give him a hug. For a second there he was shocked, but he hugged me back and buried his face into my neck. I then let go of him, held him by his shoulders and told him, “Kelvic, calm down”.

He took a breath, looked me in the eyes and well his eyes were beautiful, light brown. I can actually see how worried he is. I got the nerve to ask him, “Dude, what’s going on?”

He was hesitant to tell me at first, but I assured him he could tell me anything because I consider him as my best friend and I think he should do the same. He started talking and that actually made me happy.

“For starters,” he said, “I have tons of schoolwork, the girl I like is dating someone else and I think I’m gonna be sick.” Wow, I literally have nothing to say.

“Man, you’re having it pretty rough, but I swear you’ll get through it. Besides, I’m here for you.” I assured him and I think it worked. He hugged me really tight and I swear my boobs have gone flat and let me go after 20 seconds.

After this activity we decided to just stay in his room, and you know, just hang. It’s the least I can do for my best friend.

“So ugh, see ya there.” Kelvic said as he walked back to his dorm while I rode my Austin. You see, I still have to go to town because I will be renting some DVDs for me and Kelvic to watch.

Let’s see where we’re going… DVD rentals, DVD rentals, DVD rentals, oh there it is! I parked my Austin near the building and stepped out.

I past by a few stores that captured my attention and one of those stores that caught my attention was Beanie and Co ™, see they sell all these hats, beanies, caps and Adventure Time themed headwear. As someone who really loves headwear for no apparent reason, this is paradise. I want to waste my time and money there, but I have a friend in need, so I didn’t.

I stepped inside the DVD rentals store or shop or whatever you call it. Can it be called a store even if it just lets you rent and you don’t really buy stuff, right? I don’t even know.

I got some good movies and by good I mean funny ones. Kelvic’s sad and I’m not gonna be all insensitive and get The Notebook or Marley and Me, instead I got The Hangover 1 & 2 and of course, Due Date.

As I was walking up to my car, someone hugged me from behind, I almost punched him but when I turned around, it was my Finn.

“God, Finn, you scared the living shit out of me!”

“I’m sorry, baby. Wanna go somewhere?”

“Finn, umm, see..” oh shit, “I sort of..” well, “have plans with Kelvic.” SO MUCH AWKWARDNESS. His expression changed and he was pretty shocked and upset, “Kelvic?”

“Yeah. I’m sorry. Can we do it some other time?”

“Sure, Veronica.”

“Thank, you baby.” I said as I hugged him tight. His sweet, masculine smell is sex ugh. He then kissed my forehead before letting me go and I just let it be. It feels.. good now, like someone actually wants me.
