chapter thirty six ━━ ' jealousy jealousy'JJ HURRIED TO UNTIE THE already-loose knots. "They didn't hurt you, did they?"
Alex shook her head, leaning against the railing to smile down at him. "You're adorable."
He lifted a brow. "So...you hurt them?"
"Oh my God!"
They both whipped towards the sound of Sarah screaming frantically. She came out of the control room, holding the gun in her hand. "Did this come with the boat?"
Alex ducked her head down. "Nope."
"Ah." JJ got the last rope undone. "Understood. It's not you I have to worry about."
"We gotta go!" Cleo called, up on the raised level with Pope.
Alex reached out for JJ's hand, and the two of them made their way inside the boat, fingers intertwined. She collapsed onto one of the benches inside, next to Kiara. "God, I thought I'd be trapped there forever for a second."
Kiara scoffed. "We did too."
"Hey, John B, where are you going?"
Pope's words grabbed their attention and pulled them over to the window. They spotted John B jumping off the boat, back onto the dock.
"I'll be right back!" He called, before taking off running in the opposite direction.
"Okayyy...?" Alex scrunched up her nose, drawing out the word to emphasize her confusion. "Whatever that's about."
"We have to go!" Cleo shouted from above, but John B had already turned a corner and disappeared from view.
"What's he doing?" Alex nearly jumped from the closeness of JJ's voice in her ear.
