As they continued along the road, Lilith sighed dramatically. "Are we there yet?"
Zephiron glanced at the map, giving a small chuckle. "No, not yet. It's still a long way."
Lilith groaned and, looking defeated, shuffled over to sit next to Lucifera. She leaned her head on Lucifera's shoulder, grumbling, "This is taking forever..."
Lucifera smirked, patting her back. "You'll survive. Think of it as an adventure."
Lilith huffed but closed her eyes, seeming a bit comforted as she stayed close to Lucifera. "Yeah... an endless adventure."
Lilith looked at Lucifera with a mischievous glint in her eye. "You know... maybe we could enjoy ourselves a little bit," she teased, her voice soft and suggestive.
Lucifera raised an eyebrow, not quite following. "What do you mean by 'fun'?"
Lilith chuckled, leaning closer with a playful grin. "Oh, nothing too wild... Just thought we could make the trip a little less boring." She nudged Lucifera's arm, lightening the mood, leaving Lucifera chuckling, unsure if Lilith was being serious or just teasing.
But before Lilith could give a kiss, they all suddenly heard a faint, heartbreaking sound: the cry of a child. Lucifera's eyes widened. "Wait... I heard crying."
Lilith rolled her eyes. "Who cares?"
Lucifera gave her a determined look. "I do."
Lilith let out a sigh but gave in. "Fine... I guess I do too."
Zephiron slowed the horse to a stop. "Alright, but let's make it quick remember we don't have supplies for many stops."
Lucifera climbed down, scanning the area. She ventured a little way off the road and found a small girl hiding behind some bushes, blood smeared on her clothes and cheeks streaked with tears.
Lucifera knelt down and gently picked her up. "Are you okay?" she asked, her voice soft.
The child sniffled, wiping her eyes. "My family... they were attacked by goblins," she managed to say through her sobs.
Lucifera's expression hardened. "Where are they?"
The girl pointed toward the forest nearby, her hand trembling. "That way."
Lucifera looked back at Lilith and Zephiron, determination in her eyes. "We need to help."
Zephiron sighed but nodded. "Goblins never come alone. We might as well deal with them now."
Lilith rolled her eyes. "Fine. But make it quick, alright?"
As they reached a small, seemingly abandoned house, everything was eerily quiet. Lucifera handed the child over to Lilith, who scowled, clearly annoyed.
"Here," Lucifera said as she turned back to inspect the house, pushing the door open only to find... nothing. Just empty, silent rooms. Confused, she turned back toward the child. "What happened here?"
The child's face twisted into an eerie smile before breaking into a chilling laugh. The sound echoed in the stillness, and Lilith instinctively dropped the child, her expression shifting to shock.
Suddenly, the child began to float, its eyes glinting with a sinister light. "This is your end! You fell right into my trap!" it hissed.
Zephiron cursed under his breath. "I knew this was a bad idea."
Lilith glared, frustrated. "Lucifera, we shouldn't have helped."
Lucifera clenched her fists, anger flashing in her eyes. "... what are you?"
