"WHAT?!... No way!"

"You said whatttttt!!!! "

"Ah! Don't burst my eardrums, Eric," Jungkook grumbled, wincing as he pressed a finger into his ear.

"S-sorry, sir... But... You'did' what?!" Eric stammered, eyes wide in disbelief.

Jungkook sighed, his gaze drifting lazily to the ceiling before rolling his eyes. "I already told you, Eric."

Eric threw his hands up, pacing nervously. "Ugh, I know! But you told the man you're going to 'marry' his son? How... I mean, 'why'? he's not even close to your standards!"

Jungkook chuckled, a hint of amusement in his voice. "You've got to understand, Eric. It's the only way to get the land... and for free, at that. As for the boy, he's not a problem. he's mute, for one, and it's not like it'll be a real marriage on paper. Think of it as a business move, nothing more. A stunt, if you will, to get what I want."

A sly smirk tugged at the corner of his lips, the hint of satisfaction gleaming in his eyes as he watched Eric struggle to digest the revelation.

"B-but sir... It's..... "

"Stop.... I am not in the mood to hear your blabbering, give me some food I am hungry..... "

But after few minutes when he didn't get answer from his assistant he turned towards him in disbelief.

"Don't tell me you haven't brought it from the car.. "

"Umm.. Actually sir I didn't knew you were going to stay here... So..... " He blabbered in nervousness and fear because jungkook is looking angry and his anger is too dangerous.

Just at the moment the assistant was going to turn into ash just by his boss's stare someone entered the room in silence.

Eric quickly addressed the person on order to save his life from his scary boss.. "S-sir...
Someone is here.... "

"Who the heck...!! "

The said person flinch a little.

Jungkook immediately changed his demeanor.. "Oh... It's you...? "

The figure nodded slowly, a meek presence in the tense atmosphere.

"What brings you here....? "Jungkook asked, his tone gentler now.

Without a word, the person extended their hands, offering two bowls of food.

Eric, relieved for the distraction, quickly took the bowls. "Oh... food for us! Thank you!" he said, trying to lighten the mood.

The person gazed at Eric with innocent eyes, seemingly not understanding his words.

Jungkook passed him a constipated smile . With a soft nod, the person turned and left as quietly as they had arrived.

Jungkook exhaled, his gaze falling sharply back on his assistant. "You're lucky," he muttered.

"The child is very sweet," Eric mumbled under his breath, still recovering from the close call. He hesitated before speaking again, knowing he was about to tread on dangerous ground. "But sir... who is your bride-to-be?"

"The child you were just talking about."

Answering that Jungkook glanced down at his bowl of rice and vegetables, his answer as blunt as ever. leaving his poor assistant flabbergasted.

Eric was just opening and closing his mouth like a fish too stunned to speak anything.

Jungkook who never had his food without any non vage item finished the vage food bowl withing few minutes and that's because he was too hungry to judge anything.

As he was feeling hot due to not having fan or ac in the hut he went outside to get some fresh air and there he met Mr. Kim who seem to be approaching the hut that he was told to take some rest.

Eric went to find phone signal as they have to inform the company about their sudden leave.

"Jungkook.. Son.. You are here..? " Mr. Kim greeted him warmly..

"Um.. I was just feeling a little hot inside that's why.... " Jungkook answered rubbing his nape, feeling awkward.

Mr. Kim nodded thoughtfully, his eyes holding a flicker of curiosity. "Oh.... I heard city people have many things in their house that make their home cool... "

"Yeah... They do..... "Jungkook replied, his voice trailing off. He wasn't used to this kind of small talk, especially in the rustic surroundings he found himself in.

Silence hung between them for a moment before Mr. Kim sighed and stepped beside him, the quiet evening stretching ahead. He looked at the hut where Jungkook had been resting and then back at the younger man.

"I came to inform you that the wedding is set for tomorrow evening," Mr. Kim said, his voice calm yet heavy with meaning. "There will be many rituals to follow."

Jungkook nodded in acknowledgment, though his mind was elsewhere. He just wanted this deal done with.

"I also wanted to tell you something about my son.... " Mr. Kim started, his voice faltering a little.

"Well I am not interested... " Jungkook internally groaned, the last thing he wanted was a sentimental speech. Still, he forced a smile and gave a polite nod, feigning interest.

"My son is 17 now," Mr. Kim continued, his voice carrying the weight of an old sorrow. "But in our tradition, every person should be married before they turn 16. he couldn't... because he's mute. In our culture, someone with a disability is often seen as a curse from God. No one wants to marry him."

Mr. Kim's voice softened, his words carrying years of pain. "But you, you're from the city. You see things differently, right?"

"Y-yeah," he muttered, unsure of how to respond.

"Don't see him as a curse," Mr. Kim pleaded, his eyes filling with tears. "he's a good boy-innocent, timid. She'll do anything you ask of him. All I ask is that you keep him a little happy... I couldn't give him much in life, but maybe you can."

Jungkook swallowed hard, feeling a strange knot forming in his chest as Mr. Kim's quiet desperation sunk in. He glanced away, unable to meet the older man's tear-filled gaze, and stared into the distance.

"Ah... It's already very late... You should sleep.... I am taking my leave then.... " The man greeted and left.

Jungkook internally shouted, he couldn't believe in what he has put himself into.. ""Ahh... let's just get this over with already," he muttered under his breath, running a hand through his hair in exasperation. He looked around, irritated. "And where's that moron of a secretary? I need a drink. Badly."

His eyes scanned the quiet surroundings, but there was no sign of Eric. Jungkook groaned in frustration.

And when he glanced at his wrist watch he again find himself in disbelief.. "Huh?.. Who on the earth sleep at eight!!!??".

He let out a frustrated sigh, feeling trapped in a place that felt completely out of sync with everything he knew. "This is ridiculous..." he grumbled, shaking his head as he looked out into the quiet, still night.
