Raejin lay on his bed, staring blankly at the ceiling, the room bathed in the soft glow of moonlight. His mind was a whirlwind of scattered thoughts, none of which he could fully grasp. The night was suffocating, and the idea of sleep felt like a distant memory. His phone buzzed on the bedside table, pulling him out of his haze. He glanced at the screen

Kai.

Without hesitation, he picked it up. “Hello, Kai.” For a moment, there was only silence on the other end. Raejin waited, his heart tightening, sensing the weight in other line.

Finally, Kai’s voice came through, soft but heavy. “I’m ready,” Kai said, the words laced with a quiet, dangerous resolve.

Raejin closed his eyes, inhaling deeply, letting the silence stretch between them. He could feel Kai’s turmoil even through the phone. “Kai,” Raejin finally broke the stillness, his voice gentle but firm, “it’s late. You need to rest. Take care of yourself, okay?”

A bitter laugh came from the other end, followed by a crack in Kai’s voice that shattered Raejin’s heart. “Hyung... I won’t sleep until I’ve killed JK. I don’t think I can... not until he’s gone.”

Raejin swallowed the lump in his throat, his heart aching at the pain and desperation in his cousin's voice. “Kai...”

“You promised you’d help me.” Kai’s voice was sharp, pleading for the reassurance he so desperately needed. “You said you would.”

“I did, Kai.” Raejin hurried to answer, his voice wavered, but he forced himself to stay calm. “I promised.”

Another stretch of silence settled between them, heavy and suffocating. “Kai, is there something else you want to say?” Raejin asked, sensing the hesitation in his breaths.

Kai’s voice was barely above a whisper, his words dripping with unease. “There’s something... something I need to tell you.”

Raejin sat up, “What is it, Kai?”

“I’m not sure what WhiteWolf is up to, but...” Kai paused, his hesitation palpable. “I’ve seen Seokjin-hyung with JK’s brother... several times.”

Raejin’s blood ran cold at the new information. “What do you mean?”

“I... I think they’re dating. I’m not sure what he’s planning, but something doesn’t feel right.”

Raejin’s heart sank deeper with each word, his grip tightening on the phone.

What are you doing, Seokjin?

“I’ll talk to him,” Raejin replied, his voice hardening. The anger and confusion simmered just below the surface. Kai didn’t respond, the silence once again stretching between them. Raejin knew Kai was battling demons of his own, demons that he, too, was struggling to keep at bay.

“Get some sleep, Kai,” Raejin whispered softly, though he knew his words wouldn’t change anything. After a beat, Raejin hung up, staring at the screen as if it held answers he desperately needed. He tossed the phone aside and lay back down, his mind racing.

“What are you thinking, brother?” Raejin muttered to himself, his thoughts swirling in a storm of confusion, anger, and hurt. But more than anything, fear gripped his heart fear of what was coming, of what the future would bring, and of what Seokjin was hiding. How did it all come to this?

The room was dimly lit, casting shadows over Jimin’s face as he sat across from Namjoon in the private section of the restaurant. The frustration was visible in his tight jaw and the way his fingers drummed impatiently on the table.
