Ellie awkwardly sat on the sofa next to Alice with Teen on her left. Everyone was drinking their wine but there wasn't a lot of girl talk like she was promised. Ellie sighed heavily, bored and looked around to see if there were any games they could play. Rio always got mad and pouty when Ellie would win monopoly. She then saw a cool tattoo on Alice's forearm.
"Hi hi!" Ellie scooted a little closer to Alice.
"Hey." She smiled back at the young girl.
"I really like your tattoo." Alice quickly covered it up when it was brought up "Where'd you get it?"
"Nowhere." Ellie faltered a little but continued to speak, not minding if Alice didn't want to.
"Okay. I always wanted a tattoo, I was thinking of a heart with a little message inside. Not sure what I want the message to be though, but I have time to figure it out." While Ellie was speaking she didn't notice the small smile on both Alice's and her mothers face, enjoying the cheerfulness and serenity she brought.
"Got it in Colorado." Alice spoke up, causing Ellie to smile widely at her "My mom was playing Red Rocks."
"That symbol wards off curses, right?" Ellie knew that but wanted to clarify just in case.
"She, uh... made me get it, 'cause she said all the women in our family were cursed." Ellie glanced at Lorna, a sad smile on the older woman's face as she listened to her daughter speak.
"She wasn't well." And somehow, that smile grew sadder.
"How old were you?" Teen asked, listening in on their conversation.
"Thirteen, maybe."
"A lot happened to me at thirteen too."
"Twinsies!" Ellie high-fived Teen who laughed at her attitude.
"I miss your eyeliner." Alice told Teen "But the hair is cute. And you, you should try this style more often, it suits you." Ellie nodded and they all shared a little laugh.
"Okay, so a witch is really just another name for a bad girl, is that right?" Miss Sharon asked the group of real witches.
"That is extremely reductive." Lilia waved her glass around "We are not a monolith. And, you know, I blame Halloween. Do you see any pointy hats in here? Any green skin? Any brooms? No, sir." Ellie took in a sharp breath.
"I am ashamed to admit, I dressed up as halloween once." The group gasped at her, Lilia having a hand on her heart.
"How could you?" Agatha said dramatically.
"Hey!" Ellie laughed at them "I was, like, ten or something, give me a break!"
"Well, I'm not saying that I wanna join the club or anything," Miss Sharon began as she got up to put her glass away. "But I would drink the blood of a virgin if it would smooth out some of these wrinkles."
Then Miss Sharon turned around and everyone jumped back.
"Oh, my God!"
"Oh, God."
"Gross!"
"Oh, you are so sweet." The elderly woman chuckled at them "I don't really think I need it, either."
