Tords pov
Recently, there have been a lot of roofers around the small town I live in. But in each story, there's always one thing that's the same. A monster has moved into a cave up the mountain near our main water supply. Of course, this can't stay, so I will be the one to kill the monster. I continue to run frantically around my room, packing my bag with food, water, tools, and anything I will need to hike up a mountain. As I pull the last things off my bed and into the bag, I sip it up and hoist it up and over my shoulders. I walk over to my door and step into the hallway. It was quiet and peaceful. Let's hope the hike up is this calm. Stepping out of my house and onto my towns streets, I start walking down an older road and to the mountain path. Only a little bit out of town and the roads turn from the stone like texture into dirt and rocks. Looking up at the mountain proves that this is gonna be one hell of a long walk. My GOD, I forgot how difficult hiking was. I'm not even halfway up the mountain, and my legs are killing me. Maybe I should just set up camp for the night. Plus, it would be safer to camp away from the monster than closer. So I walk a little farther and find a cluster of trees that can block the wind and animals from seeing me but is large enough for my tent. Swntinf up, the tent was easy, but building the fire by myself was much harder. It probably took like a full hour to get both tasks done. It's finally starting to get pretty dark, so I reach into my bag and pull out an apple to eat for dinner. The surrounding forest was so calm and quiet. Like the animals were at rest ... or there were none at all. Weird. I stretched out my limbs from where they were on the ground and stomp out the small fire. Looking up through the tree canopy, I could see so many bright stars shining. I really could live up here like this. It's great. But that's enough stars for now, so I unzip the latch on my tent and crawl inside, rezipping it up. I crawl over to my sleeping bag and curl up inside. I shut my eyes, trying to fall asleep when u hear a small crack. Sort of like a tree branch snapping when stepped on. It's probably a deer or squirrel. There's nothing out there. So I just rolled over and tried to fall asleep. Another crack. Ok, that's weird. Before, there were no animals out, but now, some things in the woods. I unzip the front of the tent and stick my upper body out to look around and see a human like shape. But this was no human. No no no no no. The creatures tail swayed side to side, and a pair of large horns sat on top of its head. The monster thing seemed to be looking for something. Under the light of the moon, I could make out just a few details about the mystery man. He had looked brown hair that was spiked up like a pineapple. He was wearing ripped up pants that still covered most of his legs, and he wore what I think was a dark blue hoodie. If not for his monster part, he could look like a normal guy. The mystery man stuck his head up, looking at the sky. I could see his nose kind of twich as if he heard something in the trees. His head rapidly moved to look from one tree to the other, and he bolted up a tree. I could see his claws carving into the trees, leaving behind small little gashes in the wood. He seemed to have caught something because he jumped down from the branch he was on and tumbled on the floor. He layer kn the floor for a minute before sitting up and shaking his head rapidly. What is this thing? He seems to have something next to him because he reaches his hand to his side and grabs a bird. He seems happy with his find and gets up and walks away. Wait. Wait one, God damn minute. Is this the "monster" I'm supposed to be hunting. He seems so small and innocent. I'll have to follow any marks he left in the morning. I go into my tent, shut the door, and drift off to sleep.
Time skip to the morning
I wake up to a bright light shining through the fabric off my tent. I slowly rise and put on my day clothes. I brush my hair, making sure my horns are up and step out of the tent. As I get out, I finally stretch hearing those great morning bone pops. I squat down, reaching into my bag and pulling out some granola I made and a banana. I ear and pack up camp again. It's not like I have much. I am more focused on that tree that got all cut up last night. Running my fingers over the tree, the cuts are thin but long. So its claws are pretty short, it seems. Looking around in the mud and dirt, there are very faint food prints that seem humanish. Behind said footprints is a small line liek trail. Probably his tail. Following this trail was really short, just up the mountain mabye 5 minutes, but it led me to a cave. The entry to the cave was small, but as I walked in, I kept growing. Inside the cave on the farther left wall seemed to be a little stream leaking from a wall into a small pondish lake, which led back out another wall. Then, on the far right, there was this big bundle of sticks, rock, cloth, and fur? This was probably the nest. Walking over to the nest, I was very careful. If the monster was in there, now was my time to strike. I peeked over the edge of the nest, and there was no creature there. Looking around the cave, there was nothing here besides the small water stream and the nest. Looking at the nest, it was nothing impressive, just sticks and cloth, but something inside the nest caught my attention. Peaking back over for a better look inside the nest was a small brown teddy bear. The bear seemed to have been ripped and sown back together multiple times. Either the monster stole it, or it takes great care of the small bear doll. I reach into the nest to pick it up, and while I have it in my hands, I hear a growl from behind me. I slowly turn around to see the monster boy. Now that I could probably see him, he had brown hair, small little freckles across his face, and some real sharp teeth. He let's out another growl while looking at me. I slowly reach back into the nest and put the bear down. I think he heard the noise because his purple kinda elf like shaped ears turned up, and his expression changed from pissed to a happy little guy. [ :) ok, back to the story]. He looked over at me like he was examining and tilted his head to the side. He slowly approached me, and I raised my arms up in self-defense before he started circling me. Sometimes, he would poke me or fluff my hair seems like he was trying to understand me. He walked back around to my front, where I could clearly see how much shorter he was than me, and he rapped his tail around my leg. Then he started walking and climbing into his nest, caring me along with him. Mabye he thinks I'm one of his species. I sit in the nest as he shuffles around, doing whatever. He looks over his shoulder at me and puts a hand on my chest, showing me down. Then he gets back to his shuffling. I sit back up, and his tail hits me back down. Rude. He turns back to me, climbing on my chest and flops down. Fuck that hurt. For such a little size, he weighs a ton of bricks. I just lay there before I shove him off. He looks at me concerned and gently lays back down, shoving the top of his hair into my chin. He smells my neck, and I feel the cool air glide over my neck. He seems calmed. As he slowly drifts off to sleep, I pet his hair and start purring. Damn that's a cute little guy. Is this really the monster everyone in town is talking about. Ok, mabye, he hunts and eats the forest animals, and maybe he's protective over his home, but that's no reason to try and hunt and kill him. This little dude just seems like he needs some friends and affection. His purring is awfully soothing as well. I can feel myself drifting off to sleep. You know what. This can be a problem for future me. Not current me. Good luck, you dumbass.
Yippee, I'm not dead
