It was May 15, 1963 when PINK PUNK won our first Grammy. We took the win for Album of the Year with CAN YOU READ MY MIND?

It felt surreal sitting on those chairs, with my wife sitting right next to me and waiting as they called up the nominations. I couldn't help but rock in my chair like a lunatic. I was dressed in a black evening gown with a fur shawl over my shoulders. My hair was pinned up in curls and my makeup was glamorous but I couldn't even focus on any of that because I was a nervous wreck.

I ended up being the most mentioned celebrity along with Lisa and Jennie that night. Apparently winning a Grammy at eighteen years old meant you would be the most noticed girl in the room.

"And the winner for 1963's album of the year goes to....." Frank Sinatra is on stage looking as handsome as ever as he presents the award for Album of the Year.

Y/N's hand lands on my thigh, "you're going to rock this entire row if you continue shaking your leg like that," she whispers in the dark. I look over at her briefly and smile putting my hand on top of hers. She's my comfort at this moment. Feeling our skin together makes me feel like I can breathe even if it's just for a little bit. "I'm sorry, baby....it's just, I'm nervous..." I keep one eye on the stage as I watch Frank pull out the paper containing the winner from the gold envelope. We had so much competition. We had the Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Beach Boys and even Frank Sinatra himself up against us.

I wasn't necessarily going to cry if we didn't win, we had many more years ahead of us to continue creating great music but I still have something to prove and if by winning a Grammy means I'll be someone then I have to have that Grammy.

"You're going to win and even if you don't, you're still always going to be my winner." She's so cheesy but I like that, so I kiss her lips quickly and squeeze her hand as Frank takes a deep breath and announces the winner.

"The Album of the Year goes to......."

This was it.

I secretly had hoped that my father was going to read this on the papers. I just wanted the satisfaction of knowing that he read somewhere that the daughter he used to beat become a star, a cemented icon in the music industry. My issues deep within myself were the main driving factor on all my successes and many still hate me for it but I had to do what I did to get to where I am.

"PINK PUNK with their album CAN YOU READ MY MIND!"

It didn't feel real. It felt like a fever dream even when I stood up and took Y/N into my arms and kissed the shit out her, even when I walked up those stairs with Lisa and Jennie by my side with tears in their eyes.

And when I stood in front of the crowd, taking in their cheers and claps, it still didn't feel real.

In 1963, the Grammys weren't televised for the whole world to see. Instead they were prerecorded and when the first live televised Grammys aired in 1971 on ABC, a series of prerecorded annual specials in the 60's called 'The Best on Record' was aired on NBC. That was the first time the world had seen the first Grammy ceremonies.

It would also be the first time I'd see my 1963 Grammy acceptance speech.

I lock eyes with Y/N in the front row. She looks gorgeous as she always does but tonight she looks a little more special...a little more mine. She crosses her legs, allowing me to see a shapely calve and a hint of her thigh. She's wearing a red sparkling dress that sticks to every curve she has. I've been meaning to devour her since she stepped out of the dressing room with her hair up and her jewelry looking just right.

"This doesn't feel real. I don't even know what to say....firstly I want to thank my girls for doing this with me. For spending countless hours in the studio, refusing sleep just to get this album done the way we want it. I would never be here today if you two weren't there fulfilling our dreams with me." They grab my free hand and squeeze it. "I also want to thank our team, to the PINK PUNK team who works tirelessly day in and day out just to make us perfect, this award here is for you all. To Jisoo Kim," Jisoo raises her glass of scotch and winks at me from the left of Y/N, "you are an amazing friend and an amazing manager who's always by our side, thank you so much." Then I lock eyes with Y/N again and the cheers and claps all fade into nothing.
