When it started

Walking down the stairs of the university I avoid every gaze that follows me. I'm used to people's stare lingering on me more than necessary since I was little

As a child I was reluctant to accept unwanted attention I received. But then my Dad sat me down and told me the reason behind it.

"Eli, they stare at you because they envy you. They wish to be you. Never look twice at them because the King never does"

Though it hardly made sense then, the words were etched into my mind. Since then Dad's voice echoed in my head whenever people looked at me longer than needed.

The more I grew up the more Dad's words started making sense. With time the gawking eyes become a part of my life which I learned to ignore.

As I keep walking to find Lan, my gaze falls on her. The little bug that chased away my one night stand. Two weeks since the day and she is still managing to scare every girl away.

I have refrained from retaliating as I brushed it off as her childishness. But she is getting onto my nerves now. I watch her as she puts her perfectly manicured fingers on the biceps of a guy.

He circles his hands around her waist pulling her closer. I arch my eyebrows at the scene unfolding in front of me. So the little minx wants to have fun after ruining mine.

Even after spending her entire lives alongside the Kings, if she thinks she can getaway after messing with us then she is absolute nuts.

Calmly approaching them, I tug her back to my front by pulling her hair. She lets out a screech and the guy's eyes widen slightly at the sight of me.

"Who is he, Ava? I didn't peg you for a cheater" I say as I hold her to me.

The guy takes a step back looking between the both of us. The student body standing near us turns their focus on the drama about to happen.

"What the hell are you talking about?" she grits her teeth. I leave her hair but hold her to me by her waist.

"We had a fight yesterday and you're about to kiss him today" I question her but my eyes stay on the guy.

He looks like a fish out of water, his mouth opening and closing without letting any words out. Finally he manages to clear his throat saying "Never knew you two were in a relationship. I didn't mean to interfere"

With that he leaves the place without looking twice at the little worm squirming in my arms. As I admire her pretty efforts to come out of my hold, she stands on my toes with her pointed heels.

My hands loosen around her waist and she turns around, her hair flying all over her face. She adjusts her hair while glaring at me. I'm going to make her regret for ever crossing my life.

"How dare you insinuate that we are in a relationship?" She sneers at me keeping her hands at her hips.

The crowd around us keeps watching us like we are free entertainment. But I'm engrossed in her to give a fuck about them.

"I'm only giving back what you started" I say shrugging my shoulders. Her glare intensifies further and I practically see steam coming out of her ears.

"I was trying to save the girl from your egoistic ass" her lips thinning into straight line.

"In return got yourself trapped" I say tucking my hands into the pockets.

"What do you mean?" her eyes narrows at me.

"You shouldn't have caught my attention, you made a mistake on that day which means I'll actively ruin your university life" I say.
