"Jess! Let's go!" Owen complained. He was stretched out on the couch in front of the TV. I rolled my eyes.I placed the plate of cookies on the coffee table in front of him. "Calm down, okay?" I said. Owen pressed play on the remote, and the movie started.
"Jess, it's movie night. So you calm down," he shoved me back into the couch. "Relax, and enjoy." Owen said eating one of the cookies I baked.
Movie night was always a thing between Owen and I. Ever since we were little, but it began more regular now that we're always together.
20 minutes in, I felt myself slipping off into a deep sleep, and that's what I did.
I tripped over that stupid log I attempted to hop over. Panting, heart beating frantically, I pushed myself up and bolted forward. I knew I couldn't hid and running was my only option despite the burning sensation in my lungs, hoping I would make it out. I didn't know where Zach, Gray or Owen were. It's like I was abandonded.
The ground shook as it got closer. I pushed forward. A dumb bird decided to flee like me, expect this bird took me by surprise and almost smacked me in the face as I past a tall tree. My feet skidded to a stop and got tangled with my legs. I fell over. My head jerked back to see where she was, the answer was right in front of me. She watched me. I was terrified, who wouldn't be.
Her nose got closer and closer to me every second. Her mouth opened wide and came forward to where I could see inside. A loud shriek escaped my mouth as I saw pitch black.
The scene seemed to change as I felt my shoulder being shoved rather hard. I felt my body shaking, my breath uneven and I'm certain I was sweating. My eyes snapped open where I found the light again. It came from the TV, where Owen was still watching the film.
"Jess," He began, "this is getting out of hand." I started to get a guilty feeling for disrupting him with yet another one of my nightmares. I looked down. "You wake up screaming every night, so do you want to tell me why?" I was taken back a bit.
"I'm fine, Owen. Enjoy the movie, I'm exhausted." I brushed him off and stood up going to my bedroom, expect Owen pulled me back to the couch. I sighed.
"You tell me you're fine every night, and I believe you. Clearly, that should change. Now tell me what happened." He wasn't wrong about me brushing it off every night. Ever since the nightmares started, I've been a lot more paranoid like something is waiting around every corner. My eyes made their way up.
"What do you think they're about Owen?" I stated retorically. "I feel like it's always watching me and it's always chasing me. I can't get it out. That's was the most terrifying day of my life. I can't just forget about it."
"Jess, what happened?" He asked, again.
"I was running all alone and I tripped. I woke up right before she closed her jaw on me." I confessed. "God, why am I still scared?." I whispered that last part, hoping Owen wouldn't catch onto it. But he did.
"The Indominus Rex is gone, okay? You and I both saw it go down. You're safe, it's okay." Owen soothed me. And as mucch as I liked it, it didn't feel better. "Just try to sleep." My brother told me to go to bed, and I did. As soon as my head hit my pillow- I was out like a light.
I was behind many trees, panting. Backing up slowly, I was looking out for her. My ears picked up a loud roar and I slowly turned only to be greeted by pointy teeth, ready to eat. She took me by the hand in and I screamed once more.
The lights greeted my eyes once more and I noticed I was back in my room, so was Owen. I honestly felt horrible about this but I didn't know how to solve it. Owen took my pillow in his arms and held out a hand to me.
