I snuck Zach out the back about an hour later. He hopped the fence and ran the way home. He called me 2 minutes later telling me he was good and inside. I calmed down.

The car was still waiting outside, with the man upfront.

We checked on it every hour to see if I was still there, and every hour, there it was. It was safe to say, that it wasn't safe to leave the house.

I hadn't gotten anymore phone calls, probably because they know where we live now... My days have been full of long FaceTime calls to Zach and Gray.

The divorce is tricky for them. But from what they've told me, it's getting better. That doesn't mean they have to be happy about it.

Owen told Claire about the situation. No one has been asking for her. I can tell she's relieved but doesn't want to rub anyone's nose in it.

I was sitting on the couch reading my favorite book for the 5th time when there was a knock on the back door. My hands set the book down and I peaked over the back of the couch as Owen exited his room to open the door.

It was 9:33 at night, so who would be here?

"Relax, Jess." Owen said, opening the door to let my best friend in. Zach held a sleeping bag under one arm and a paper bag in the other.

"Hey." He said, walking in and down the hallway.

"Hey?" I asked, unsure why he was here. I have Owen a look.

"I know you've been bored the last few days, considering what's going on. So I invited your friend over to brighten your spirits." Owen said.

"So, I'm staying the night, and I brought fries." Zach said setting his sleeping bag down by my door and the fries on the kitchen counter.

My mood pepped up. I climbed over the back of the couch and snatched the fries away, digging in.

"You're welcome." Zach said, rolling his eyes at me.

I sighed and set the bag down. "Thank you." I told him and ran into a giant hug.

I hadn't had good food like that in days and I couldn't of been happier in the moment.

Zach caught me and return the hug, a little stunned by my actions, but didn't argue.

"Alright," Owens voice rang, I pulled away from Zach and turned to my brother. "I'm going to bed. Y'all have fun." He said and exited the room.

"So, how have you been?" Zach asked, sitting down on the island stool. I climbed onto of the island counter and ate some more fries.

"Really?" I asked him.

"Sorry. We just haven't hung out in days and it's throwing me off." Zach said, shrugging.

"Yeah. It's weird." I told him. "I just want it to be over." I sighed and made my way back to the couch.

"I know you do. And I wish I could fix it." Zach said, then I felt him sit beside me on the couch.

I hated it when I talked negative around Zach. I was so selfish sometimes.

"Oh, how was the party you went to?" I asked. Zach told me about a party at the swimming hole. He begged me to come, but I didn't want to risk anything.
