A bright light blinded me in my sleep, causing my eyes to open. I found myself with a splitting headache. And last night came flooding back. Zach staying over. Eating fries. The open door. Someone in my house. The big brawl we had.Taking a deep breath, I opened my eyes, expecting to be anywhere but my house. Especially after being forced to breathe in chemicals.
I found myself on a couch. A familiar couch. My couch. And in my living room. Uneasy, and confused I sat up.
I looked around for Zach and Owen, but they weren't here. My eyes fell on the clock- 6:30. I stood up, cautiously, and made my way down the hall to Owen's room. Then I heard talking.
"...had no bruises or bumps on her so she wasn't knocked out. The only other way Jess would fall unconscious is if she was drugged. Now why would the guy bring something like that with him if he didn't plan to use it on someone?" I heard the voice of my best friend ask.
"Look- Zach, I don't know why. Let's just be grateful she's here." Came my brothers voice. I decided to come in, so my hand pushed the door open.
I saw both their heads snap in my direction, then sigh in relief. Zach immediately pulled me in the room and squeezed the life out of me.
The relief I had to see that they were both okay was indescribable.
Zach let me go and Owen replaced him. "How you feeling, kid?"
"My head hurts" I stated. My head hurt in a headache way. I was drugged and that didn't make me feel so good.
"Ours do too." Zach said, meaning in pain, as he handing me a bag of ice. I gladly accepted and placed it on my head.
"What happened?" I asked, drowsily.
"I don't know, Jess. But we're taking some serious precautions around here from now on." Owen stated.
"Good." I replied. "Last night sucked." I said walking back to the living room. "How did I even end up on the couch?" I asked, rubbing my forehead.
"I put you there this morning after I woke up and found you two unconscious." Owen said, rubbing his own head.
"Yeah, that was fun..." I retorted sarcastically.
"Hey! You were drugged, we got hit." Zach pointed out to me, falling into the couch I woke up on.
I gave my best friend a look, and he shut up right away.
"Alright, Zach, uh..." Owen trailed off walking near us. "I'll, uh, walk you home so you're okay and I can tell your parents what happened."
"No." I said, turning to my brother. Owen's expression became surprised. "What if something happens to you two? Or someone watches and learns where he lives? They could hurt him, and his family, O." I said.
"Jess-"
"No. Why doesn't he just stay with us until we fix this?" I pleaded with Owen. The said boy sat right behind me remaining silent. "Please, Owen."
Owen just stared at me for a while and then behind me at Zach. "Fine. I'll talk to the Mitchell's." He looked to Zach. "You're staying here until he sort this out, okay?"
"Uh, yeah that's fine." Zach replied, nodding his head. Owen returned it and went to the phone.
I sighed and turned around to Zach. "How's your head?" I asked.
"Ah, it's hurting, but wouldn't everyone's hurt?" He said, trying to laugh. "Are you okay? You weren't knocked out, so that must of been terrifying." Zach asked me, standing up.
