Happy 19th Karkat!

*AN*((Extra long chapter since I've been gone for so long))

{Karkat's POV}

It's been a crazy couple of months since Gamzee's freak out. Everything's been amazing! A little too amazing actually... everyone's so happy and cheerful, like... it's as if nothing bad could ever get to them or the ones they love. Something s definitely wrong.

"Hey Gamzee..."

"Yeah bro?"

Gamzee and I were cuddled up on the couch watching a movie like we do most nights.

"Why's everyone so... happy lately?"

"Maybe it's because they're just happy!" Gamzee chuckled and kept his face towards the TV.

"No, everyone's been weirdly, creepily happy lately." I sighed and Gamzee started laughing. "What's so funny?"

"Don't wory bro, everything's okay." He held me tighter, we must have fallen asleep like that.

When i woke up the next morning, Gamzee wasn't on the couch with me.

"Gamzee?" I called out for him but i got no response.

I went to his room where i found him upside down and leaning against the wall.

"What the fuck are you doing?" I chuckled.

"I've got some wicked writers block so I'm helpin' all the blood rush to my head."

"You're so fucking weird." I laughed and looked to my phone to find texts from Sollux.

"Well, ou have fun with, whatever. I have to get dressed." I walked towards my room when i heard a loud thud.

"Shiiiit man! I'm okay!"

I laughed as i changed my clothes. Sollux was coming to get me, he said something about going out to the cafe for my birthday. When i was finished getting dressed, I was scared shitless by Gamzee.

"Happy birthday pale bro!" He held out a small box. I took it and slowly opened it. Inside i found my cancer necklace, the one he broke back when he snapped.

He helped me tie it around my neck back where it belonged.

"Thank you so much Gamzee." I hugged him tight.

"It's the least I could do... I know it means a lot to you." He helped me put it on.

"Aren't you coming?" I asked him as he headed towards his room again.

"Yeah, I'll meet you there." He smiled. I smiled back and nodded before leaving.

The summer air was humid and sticky, kinda made me feel gross in my long clothing. July was always a gross month when it came to weather, it was in the high 80's today and no wind whatsoever.

"Happy birthday KK." Sollux greeted me at his car.

"Thanks." I got in and he drove off.

"So what awaits at the cafe?" I asked as i went through my phone.

"Nothing much." Sollux shrugged as he pulled off. We entered the Cafe and found my family waiting.

"Wow, what a party." I laughed.

"It's been so long since I've seen you smile." Kankri sighed happily. He approched me, "Happy birthday Karkat." He briefly hugged me. Sollux and I sat next to each other at the large table set up in the Cafe. They rented out the place for a private party.

The party lasted about 2 hours. It was in the last half hour that I started to worry about Gamzee. He should have been here by now...

"Karkat, are you alright?" Kanaya asked.
