{A few weeks later}

After the scratches on my face healed, they left some pretty nasty scars. I was digging through the bathroom drawers and I found my old face paint. It had been awhile since I caked my face in this shit, it was something Kurloz and I started doing back in high school. I uncapped the black and white tubes and mixed them in a light grey almost white and covered my face with it. I mixed a darker grey together and painter around my eyes, curving up on the outsides and then around my mouth and on my lips. The paint was thin and dried nicely, especially since I layered it with some finishing spray. I attempted to wipe it off with my hands and it stayed really well. I smiled at myself in the mirror, my snake bites identical to Karkat’s went with the whole Juggalo theme I still had going on. I looked at myself one last time, admiring my small gages in my ears and the “Miracles” tattoo on my lower neck.

“Hey Karbro look, no more scars!” I presented myself to him when I exited the bathroom.

“I was wondering what the hell you were messing around with in there.” He softly chuckled. “So you’re going back to the whole creepy circus clown thing?”

“It’s called bein’ a Juggalo bro!” I chuckled back. “Now I won’t have people askin about my face all the time.” Karkat’s face was unsure but he didn’t say anything else.

Ironically, I’m currently sitting with Sollux in a coffee shop. We both quietly sipped from our cups and made small talk.

“Okay, I still have no idea why you called me to meet you here.” I finally spoke up. Sollux looked down to his hands in his lap. Something’s been on his mind and he’s been very quiet.

“Have you ever been in love?” He asked me quietly. I could feel my cheeks heat up and I looked to my cup for answers.

“Why?” I asked back.

“I want to know what it feelth like.” He spoke a little louder this time.

“Well,” I sighed. “Yeah, I have. It’s not always happy fun times like they show you in movies. Sometimes… sometimes it really hurts.” I finished off my coffee and looked to the ceiling to keep myself from welling up. He was quiet again. I felt a warm touch on the hand I placed on the table. I looked down slowly to find Sollux resting his hand on mine.

“I’m thorry I did that back then.” He attempted to smile. I smiled back painfully.

“You know, forget that shit ever happened. Maybe we could just-“ I was interrupted by my phone. I groaned and pulled it from my pocket. The picture of a young Kanaya and I indicated her calling.

“What?” I answered quietly.

“I don’t mean to bother you on your date or whatever, but what’s going on with Gamzee?” Kanaya spoke softly on the other end.

“What do you mean? He was sleeping when I left.” I grew more worried as Kanaya her time to respond.

“You should probably return home….. Now.” With her words, I jumped from my seat and hurried to my car. I could hear Sollux hurry behind me.

“Do NOT let him out of your sight. I’ll be there in five.” I hung up and started up my car.

“Dude where are you going?” Sollux asked, clearly confused.

“Sorry Sollux, I have to go. I’ll pay next time okay?” I responded quickly before I sped away.

As soon as I parked my car I ran up the stairs to my apartment. I froze at the door when I heard Gamzee talking to someone.
