Lucy's POV
I woke up in the hospital, from what the doctors told me I had been out cold for five days. A serious concussion, broken arm and collarbone, banged up body and bruising everywhere. Overall I was ok though. Alive. That was something at least.
I looked around the hospital room. Other than me, my bed and medical equipment and a few chairs, the room was empty and devoid of all personal touch.
Maybe I had naively hoped that my boyfriend, or one of my friends would have send something.
"Doctor?"
A man that was turning to leave span back around to face me.
"Yes..."
He looked at his clipboard,
"... Miss Chen."
"Have I had any visitors while I was out?"
The doctor shook his head and left the room.
Oh. So no one had come to see me.
Why was I here in the first place?
God my head hurt.
Tim and I were in a good place, why hadn't he visited me at all?
I was in a car accident for god's sake?!
Why hadn't my normally loving boyfriend come even once?!I needed to go talk to him.
I peeled away the thin duvet and swung my feet around to stand up.
My vision blurred and my head seemed to explode.
God that hurt.
I layed back down sighing.
Instead I picked up my phone and called Tim."Hey babe!"
"Um... Hi Luce?"
"Where are you babe? The doctors say you haven't visited me at all."Tim's POV
"Hey babe!"
Luce sounded so happy?
Had she finally had a break in the case?
Wait babe?!
I had seemingly missed about 5 steps.
"Um... Hi Luce?"
Anyway I thought Lucy was undercover, she wasn't meant to contact anyone until she was debriefed. And she clearly hadn't done that yet.
"Where are you babe? The doctors say you haven't visited me at all."
Doctors? Visited?
Oh that made WAY more sense. Lucy was in the hospital.
From what I could gather she probably hit her head and had a concussion. So she had trouble remembering things. Like our break up... And her undercover work.Wait she couldn't go back in with those guys having forgotten her undercover persona. I needed to come get her.
"Hang on one sec Luce, I'm coming to get you. Do you know what hospital you're in?"
"Grey Slone Memorial"
"Ok, I'll be there in a minute, see you soon... babe."
I added the last word hesitantly. If Lucy thought we were still dating... Honestly I would play along... For her benefit of course.
Not because I wanted to get back together.
Because the doctors might want me to pay along. I wasn't sure. So yeah. That.I pulled up to the hospital and pulled Juniper out of her car seat in the back.
I want sure how much Lucy had forgotten.
Surely she remembered Juniper?
If not then this was going to be a shock.I walked into Lucy's room.
"Hey babe, you made it. Oh Juniper you've gotten so big since I came here!"
That was something. She remembered Juniper at least.
So when in time did she think we were?
Or was it just a mixture of different memories all swirled together."So when can I come back home to you and our sweet little girl?"
Lucy sounded so excited for home. A home she hadn't called home in over four months. Sure some of her clothes were still in my wardrobe, not that she knew that. Maybe I still had pictures of us around in some places, but Lucy didn't know that. Nor did she ever need to.I really needed to call Grey.
I lied to Lucy about needing the restroom and dialed Grey's number while walking out of the room."Grey?"
"What do you need Bradford?"
"Lucy's in the hospital, she has mild amnesia and doesn't remember anything about even going undercover."
"Oh... I'll come down, text me the hospital and room number."
I hung up and texted Grey the details.
Meanwhile the doctors were prepping Lucy for a CT and MRI to see if they could find an issue that needed immediate intervention.Grey arrived before Lucy's surgery was over.
"Sargent"
I nodded respectfully and Grey took the seat next to mine.
"So, what's wrong with Lucy specifically?"
"She can't remember certain things, mostly everything is fine. She doesn't remember anything about the last two months and she thinks I'm her boyfriend. That's what we've found so far, there may be more we haven't asked about yet."
"Oh. I'm definitely ending the undercover assignment immediately then, it would be way to dangerous for her to have forgotten anything about it."
"We'll need to wait until after the test results come back to see how bad the damage is, and if it can be reversed or anything."
The doctor's wheeled Lucy back into the room on her bed.Amnesia, Lucy thought we were still dating.
I was fine with that.
In fact I loved that.
I had wanted to date Lucy again.
And now...
She wouldn't remember her not wanting to be with me again...
Now i could be with Lucy again.
Even if technically she didn't want to be with me, she didn't remember that.
So what if it was wrong? I could have what I wanted, and if I broke the news to Lucy about her not wanting to be with me, it would break her heart. Not to mention confuse her about the whole memory loss thing.
So it was a good thing that Lucy had memory loss, we could get back together like I wanted. And no one was really hurt.
Because now she wanted to be together. The doctor came back in holding a clipboard.
"Miss Chen?"
"Yeah?"
"We found nothing wrong, you're free to sign your discharge paperwork whenever your ready."
Lucy just nodded and the doctor motioned me out into the corridor."As we said, there is nothing wrong with her brain. We don't know when her memory will return, if ever. I'm sorry."
On one hand I wanted to reply 'Dont be' because I was maybe just slightly happy that the woman I loved wanted to be with me again. But I refrained from saying anything and simply nodded.Lucy was coming home again. Home, with me. As much girlfriend. Everything in my life was right again. Lucy was back.
