Lucy's POV

I just started driving. I didn't know where to. I just drove.

Tim was practically dead to me.
As was almost everyone else at least a bit. They all knew something was wrong, that Tim and I weren't together before my accident. And they all lied to me.

Then there was the accident.
Only now... I wasn't really sure it was an accident. Emmet had hit me while I was on the way potentially arrest him. There was no way that wasn't on purpose. Right?

I balled my fists and internally screamed at my situation. If I wasn't a police officer, Tim would definitely be dead by now. I HATED him.
At some point I just pulled over and threw up, everything was a lot and I couldn't handle it all anymore.

Apparently my subconscious drove me to the station because I soon found myself parked up in my parking bay and walking into the building.
I may as well talk to Grey about everything my brain recovered from my time 'undercover'.
I knock on the glass door of his office.
"Come in officer Chen."
"I remember! I remember everything!"

It hadn't yet fully occurred to me that Grey also knew that Tim was lying to me, and by extension by not telling me, lied to me about it.

"I have about three minutes to talk before I get mad at you about not telling me about mine and Tim's breakup during my memory loss."
Grey just nodded and bowed his had, knowing that I had every right to be angry, even if he was my superior officer.

"I had just found that Emmet often went to one coffee place on the outskirts of the city so I was driving over to hopefully find and arrest him. That's when I got hit. And Emmet was the one driving the car that hit me."
"Wait Emmet hit you? And your sure?"

If this wasn't such a serious topic I would make a joke about this not being the first time he had hit me, but that seemed inappropriate given the circumstances.

"Crystal clear sir. That was the last thing I remembered before waking up in the hospital."
Grey simply nodded. Mentally adding another crime to the list of charges Emmet had received.
Since breaking out of jail he had,
-threating a law enforcement officer
-jail breaking
-theft (of a dead body)
-grand theft auto
-conspiracy

Along with the slew of crimes that landed him in jail in the first place. And to think I once dated and married him.

Tim's POV

Angela was sat next to me on my sofa, as I cried. I rarely cried, especially not in front of people. But today I had lost Lucy, and that was ok to cry about. It was my fault.
I had lied.
Maybe if I had just told Lucy about the memory loss and about our breakup she wouldn't have left like that.

But we had been so happy. What had happened to make her break up with me when she seemed so happy with me now?

I heard the phone ring out again. I had called Lucy about twenty times by now but she hadn't picked up a single time.
I wasn't really sure what I would say if she did.
'please take me back I'm sorry?'
'why did you break up with me in the first place?'
'where are you?'
'come home please?'
None seemed like particularly good options.
Especially if Lucy was hurting like I'm sure she was.
Angela just sighed.
It was all my fault that Lucy was hurting now.
Would she try and hurt herself again?
Hopefully not.
But if she did... Because of me...

"I'm going to drive around and try to find Lucy"
Angela looked at me skeptically,
"Are you sure that's the best idea? She probably just needs some-"
I slammed the door behind me grabbing Juniper and putting her in her car seat.
"-space..."

Angela sat in the passenger seat as I started up the car. Honestly I wasn't sure if I was in the right headspace to drive at all especially with my daughter in the car but I needed to at least make sure Lucy was ok.

Lucy's POV

After finishing giving my statement to Grey, I drove back to the sight of the crash, looking for cameras or anything that recorded the incident.

Luckily I found one a few shops down the street at a jewelry store that would have recorded the accident.
I knocked on the door despite it being the early hours of the morning.
As expected no one answered so I walked back to my car.
There was a paper on my windscreen.
Great a parking ticket, I was only gone for a few minutes.
I picked up the note.

'leave this alone'

So... Not a parking ticket then.
I looked around, hoping to see whoever had left the note.
The entire street was empty.

I drove back to Tim's in complete silence.
Listening. Watching.

The my phone rang.
"Hello again Lucy. Nice to see you have all your memories back now. It means our calls can continue."
"Hello again Rosalind."
"Anyway how's your daughter, Juniper? I haven't heard anything about her in a while. She's what? A year old now?"
"One year seven months and nine days."
"Ah yes, that was it. Mother's always know best. Not that I would know. My bloodline ends with me, the maximum security prison in locked in makes sure of that."
"That's a good thing."
"For the world, probably. For me, I'll be out within a month. And you know who my first target will be?"
"Let me guess. Me."
"Incorrect Lucy. I care about you to much to do that. Immediately anyway."
"So your target will be...?"
"Your sweet daughter of course. Her lovely brown hair and striking blue eyes. Her screams as I will slowly put her into a barrel. Just like Caleb did to you. Imagine it Lucy. Your young daughter. Dead."
I stayed silent but sped up a little to make it back faster.

"I might take that man of yours, Tim was it? Bury him after your daughter. But don't worry. You'll follow them. Maybe after a week, maybe a month, perhaps a year. You won't know. I'll just take you one day. And you'll die. All alone. Tim won't be there to save you this time Lucy."
I stayed silent again. A few tears running down my checks at even the thought.
I sped the car up again. I didn't care if I was breaking the speed limit, I just needed to make it home to make sure they were ok.
"Anyway I've said to much. See you soon Lucy. Bye bye."

She hung up.
And I was left to my thoughts again.
All alone.
