act. 1 ch. 1
"agent smith"

Anastasia watched from her position in the front of the room; the supposed heroes in this situation were sitting at the table in the back of the room. She watched as they listened to what Loki Laufeyson had to say. She payed close attention to all of them. She watched their every move. They didn't know she was here yet, but they will soon enough.

Nick Fury had trusted her to be here. He had trusted her to help these "heroes" get what they needed to get done. He had given her the perfect way into the organization without knowing it. She just had to figure out a way to get the avengers to trust her too.

She only had one problem: Natasha Romanoff.

Anastasia wasn't sure that she would be able to recognize her. For all Natasha knows, Anastasia was still apart of the Red Room. Though she was older now and looked slightly different, that didn't allow Anastasia to feel safe in the fact Natasha won't know it's her. After all, they grew up together. Natasha was basically her older sister for the first half of her life. They trained the exact same, they were taught to be able to recognize people underneath their disguises. Natasha Romanoff being here was not apart of the plan.

But after all, she had started training different. Hydra has taught her new techniques and abilities. No matter what, she had to go through with this plan.

With a deep breath before hand, she walked up to the table to hear Tony Stark talking about some type of science, "When did you become an expert on thermonuclear astrophysics."

"Last night. The packet. Selvig's notes, the extraction theory papers. Am I the only one that did the reading?" Tony Stark spoke to her, "Wait, who are you?"

"Agent Smith. Fury has asked me to help you guys." Anastasia said, lying through her teeth. She looked around at the faces of the people surrounding her, glancing over them all individually. Her eyes stopped when she reached Natasha, searching for any sign of recognition. There was none.

Natasha Romanoff didn't recognize her.

"Does Loki need any particular kind of power source?" Steve Rodgers asked. Anastasia glanced at him. He was still in his Captain America suit causing her to wonder if he ever actually took it off.

Bruce Banner was the one to answer, "He would have to heat the Cube to 120-million Kelvin just to break through the Coulomb barrier." Banner was nervous, it was obvious. In his demeanor, the way he walked, the way he talked, and the way he fidgeted.

"Unless Selvig has figured out how to stabilize the quantum tunneling effect." Tony spoke.

"Well if he could do that he could achieve heavy ion fusion at any reactor on the planet." Bruce responded.

"Finally, someone who speaks English." Tony said. Anastasia was sure none of that was english.

Both Tony Stark and Bruce Banner introduced themselves to each other. The dark haired girl studied the interaction though she could feel someone looking. Looking over she could see Natasha staring at her with a face that showed she was thinking. Maybe she did recognize her. Or maybe she was just being paranoid.

Then Nick Fury walked into the room, "Dr. Banner is only here to track the Cube. I was hoping you might join him."

"I would start with that stick of his." Steve spoke up. "It may be magical but it works an awful lot like a HYDRA weapon." Anastasia winced slightly at the mention of the organization, though she covered it up with a cough so nobody would notice. And nobody did, except one.

"I don't know about that, but it is powered by the Cube." Fury said. "And I would like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys."

"Monkeys? I do not understand." Thor asked.

"I do!" Steve said suddenly. "I understood that reference." The room sat in silence for a few seconds.

"Shall we play, doctor?" Tony asked to Bruce who responded. "This way, sir."

Everybody slowly exited the room after that, going back to work. Maria Hill quickly went up to Anastasia with information about the tesseract. As they went to leave, Anastasia looked back to see Natasha looking intently at her, as if she was trying to decode her.
