We walked side by side down the street. My heart could not be tamed. It thumped wildly every time I stole a glance at Dujun. However, it was awkward. We did not have much to talk about and he seemed to be averting his eyes just like me.
Dujun cleared his throat. "So... who was that boy I saw earlier?"
I looked up at him. "Dongwoon. He's the guy you saw me with in the restaurant the other time."
Dujun made an 'O' shape with his mouth.
"Where are we going anyway?" I asked."To a seafood restaurant which is just here." Dujun stopped right in front of a restaurant.
I smiled awkwardly and followed him in. Darn it. I'm allergic to seafood. Making a quick decision in my head, I grabbed Dujun's wrist. He stopped and turned towards me with eyebrows shot up.
He took two steps closer to me. "Whats wrong?"
"I- I. Actually, I'm allergic to seafood." I stuttered.
Dujun widened his eyes in surprise. He held my hand in both of his hands.
"Youngji, I'm so sorry. I didn't know. Let's go somewhere else."I nodded and walked behind him. We kept walking and Dujun was looking around to look for another restaurant. When I finally got tired of the silence, I jogged to his left and tried having a conversation.
"Dujun, why do you like me?" I asked.
He looked stunned and his face was flushed. My heart leaped. He looked so innocent!
"W- Well, you always had that cool demeanour. That aura you emanated got my attention. You see, you were different from the others. Although I was popular, you didn't try to flirt with me to get close to me. You treated me the same as everyone else. Plus, I think you were really nice other than the fact that you were rather moody."
I smacked his arm playfully. "I was not moody! The girl beside me smelled bad and almost everyone hated her. I didn't want to be ostracised by the whole class, so I did what I did. Honestly, I regret it now. I should have treated her better. I have been feeling bad ever since then."
"...And thanks for your compliment Dujun." I smiled shyly.
Dujun stared at my face and smiled softly. I was about to tell him to stop before he hit the lamp post.
"Ow!" Dujun cried.
"Oh my god, are you alright?" I held his arm and touched his face.
I looked at his face, intensely focused on checking for any injuries. When I relaxed myself, I realised Dujun had been staring at me all the while.
I widened my eyes and I let my hand drop from his face. "I'm sor-"
Dujun cut me off and took my hand in his. "What are you sorry for? I love how you cared for me."
My eyes softened. I was at a loss for words.
"I haven't officially asked you. Will you be my girlfriend?" Dujun said.
My heart fluttered and it felt as if it was going to fly out.
"Isn't it too early? I mean we only met up today." I said quietly.
"If we were fond of each other for four years, how does a day make any difference?"
"Do you do poetry?" I mentally slapped myself for asking that question. That was totally irrelevant.
"I'm sorry. I'm too nervous that I'm spouting nonsense."
Dujun held my shoulders. "Its okay. I like you being yourself. You don't have to give me an answer now. Right now, we have to find a place to eat because I am so hungry."
I laughed. "So cute."
Dujun took a glance from the corner if his eyes.
